Coffee Lovers 2021 Fall / Winter Blog Hop

I can't believe that I haven't posted since August.  Time has just flown by.  The good news is that I was able to spend a little time here and there in my craft room even though  I didn't have time to update my blog.

I saw the Coffee Loving Card Makers blog was sponsoring their Fall / Winter hop and it was the kick in the backside that I needed to make a project and actually post it.   I was limited on time so I combed through all my digital stamps to find something that I could color relatively quickly.  I found this old image called Cup of Friendship from KnK.  I always loved the images she created of dogs.  Anyhow, I thought this one would be perfect for the hop.  I wanted to draw in steam from the mug, but I was not confident in my skills so I left it off.

Be sure to check out the blog hop at the Coffee Loving Card Makers blog.  There is a little time left to join in the fun.

 Supplies:

  • Stamp:  Cup of Friendship digital stamp from KnK, Tiny Words Christmas from Simon Says Stamp
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black

You are the Best!

My family has had a bit of a rough summer.  I wanted to send a card to a friend to thank her for all the support she has given me.  I used and image colored during a  Kit and Clowder coloring class and paired it with the eclipse technique demonstrated by Jennifer McGuire.

The image is from the Elements of Nature coloring class from Kit and Clowder.  Below is a photo of my coloring while in progress.

In this image the coloring is complete but I have not yet cut the image to fit my card or cut out the letters for "YOU".

Thank you for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Snowman and Bird II

I'm so happy I have extra images colored and waiting to be put on a card.  It have me the opportunity to make one more card for the BYSH Cardmakers blog hop during my lunch break.

I used some of the October Afternoon papers that I had stashed away.  All the DP pieces except the blue snow flake piece were scraps from other projects.  The heart boarder was also a scrap.   I have no idea where the 3 snowflakes came from but I pulled them out of the bin of extra die cuts on my desk.  I love when a card comes together and uses up bits and pieces from other projects.

My inspiration to make Christmas cards has come from the BYSH Cardmakers.  Click on the image below to stop by the blog and link up your holiday card.

Snowman and Bird

I have another entry for the BYSH Cardmakers blog hop.  This is another image that I colored previously and had sitting on my desk.

I'm not sure I like the way it turned out.  I had the card "finished" but then decided to add the birch trees.  I think I should have left them off.

Festive Wreath

I have another card to share for the BYSH Cardmarkers blog hop.   This is another image that I colored and have had sitting on my desk for months.   I fussy cut out the wreath and kept the rest of the layout pretty simple (for me).  I also used colored cardstock to make the card base.  For some reason, I rarely do this but I like the way it looks here.

Ho Ho Ho Kitty

Earlier this week I was able to color 2 copies of this cute kitty image.  I used one on a card earlier this week and found time to make another.   This was supposed to be a quick card but cutting and gluing 3 layers of kraft paper and then the dp took some time.

Christmas Mouse Again

I used this sweet mouse on a card for the last BYSH Cardmarkers hop.  I almost always print at least two copies of digital stamps.  If I make a mistake, I have a spare, otherwise I can make more than 1 card.   I have had this little guy sitting on my desk for ages so I decided to quickly put him on a card during my lunch break.  I used some left over die cuts and pieces of paper in an effort to keep it quick and simple.

Congrats on the New Nest

Hello!  Sorry I have been absent for awhile.   Life has been a little too busy for my to enjoy crafting or post on my blog.    I have a few minutes this morning while I'm drinking my coffee so I thought I would take a moment to share a recent project.

My daughter's friend recently moved into her first apartment so I made this card using one of Tiddly Inks cute Wren images.  This is the first time I colored dark hair.   (Well, actually my second - I threw out my first attempt on this image.)  I think that because I am blonde, I tend to color blonde hair.

We recently had a visitor to our yard, a female (I think) snapping turtle.   I think she was looking for a place to lay her eggs.   The first day we saw her we thought she just wondered off a little too far from the pond.  My husband and I were able to scoop her in a bucket and carry her back to the pond.  She was big and mad so it was a two person operation.  (Boy, she could really hiss! And I understand why they are called snapping turtles!)  The next day we saw her in our yard again.   That's when we realized it was around the time turtles lay their eggs so we let her be.  She scooted off into the underbrush and we haven't seen her since.  I hope everything worked out okay for her and she was able to get back to the pond with out encountering any predators (or well intentioned people interfering with her!)

Thank you for stopping by!  Take care!

Thinking of You - Sympathy

I made this card for a friend that recently lost her father.

It is a bit outside my comfort zone because I did not use designer paper.  I created the background panel with dry embossing, versa mark ink, and then heat embossing with pearl embossing powder.  In real life it is very pretty and just a bit shimmer.   I think it would also work well for a wedding card.

Thank you for stopping by!

Stamp:  Spring Bouquet by Alex Syberia Design

Teddy and Penguin Christmas Card

I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  It was very warm here but breezy and with low humidity so it wasn't too bad.  It was beautiful in the shade.  I know the farmers and gardeners probably are hoping for rain but it is nice to be able to go outside and not have to deal with mosquitos.

Even though it was hot this weekend, I had the chance to finish up a Christmas card.  I have had this image colored and sitting on my desk for weeks.  I put it together pretty quickly because I found the embossed panel in my left overs from other projects.   The DP pieces were also left overs.  I cut the sentiment out of a page from the DP pad.    Add a few embellishments and it was done.

Thank  you for stopping by.  I hope you have a wonderful week.

Leaping Trout Father's Day

With Father's Day is quickly approaching, I started looking for a stamp to use to create a card for my dad who is avid fisherman.   I found the perfect digital image, Leaping Trout, from Power Poppy.  I used google to look at some images of rainbow trout so that I had a guide for coloring. I was really inspired by some of the painting by Anita Phillips.

After coloring the image, I decided to add a little something by using the eclipse technique for the letters "DAD".   After watching Jennifer McGuire's tutorial for the eclipse technique, I find myself using it frequently.  I think it just adds a little something special.

I finished the inside of the card with the image and a strip of designer paper.

Thank you for stopping by.  Have a great day!

  • Stamps:  Leaping Trout digital stamp set from Power Poppy

Hang in There

I'm a little behind in sharing this card.  I made it for my uncle before he was moved to hospice.

I love this cute little elephant and teddy.   I colored a couple more but have yet to put on cards.

I found the star in my stash of left over die cuts.  The 2 small pieces of patterned paper were also left overs that I kept just in case they would be useful some day.  The CAS design of this card is a little out of my comfort zone but I like the way it turned out.

Sending Love

It has been a hard couple of weeks for my family.  While navigating medical emergencies and several other events, I also lost my uncle/god father to leukemia.  I made this card to send to my aunt.

I used the eclipse technique for the word "LOVE".   The video from Jennifer McGuire was very helpful in learning and using this technique.

I originally was coloring the floral heart digital stamp as a way to take some time out for myself.  I used some of the techniques I learned in classes from Kit and Clowder, but I mostly wanted to color and try to relax for a little while.

I liked the way the flowers turned out (although the cast shadows are a little dark) so I decided to use the image for a card.

Christmas Roses

I was able to make one more card for the BYSH blog hop.   As usual, I printed out two images in order to make 2 cards for my stash.  Since I messed up the leaves on one of the images, I cut out the flowers and used dimensional foam to add to the image that was colored better.

I added some Buttercup Perfect Pearls to the center of the flowers.  Now I wish I hadn't but I think it still looks okay.   I also added some stitching and a border made from a Starbucks coffee sleeve to add some texture.

Today is the last day to link your Christmas creation to the BYSH blog hop.  Click on the image below to see the details.

Christmas Mouse

I have another card for the BYSH Blog Hop.  I am really enjoying this hop because it is giving me some much needed motivation to get a jump on making Christmas cards.

While looking through my Christmas digital stamps, I saw this cute little mouse and realized that I had not colored him before.  I used Microsoft Word to soften the lines of the images so that it would be more like lineless coloring.  I used a white gel pen to add back the accents on his sweater.

I always try to print/color multiple of the same image so that I can build my stash of cards.  I have another cute mouse colored and I hope I have time to create a card with him before the end of the hop.

Cruizin' with my Gnomies

I saw the BYSHC blog is having a Spring into Christmas blog hop and wanted to join in.

I have been working on coloring these gnomes from LOTV.  I used a tutorial at Stamp and Colour by Delphine to help me create the background.

I used white acrylic paint and CTMH Add Glitz to create the snow both on the image and the pine branch die cuts.

I'm pretty happy with how they turned out but need to practice making the trees a little bit more.  I really like the sky in the background.

Special Delivery Snail

Hello!  I have another card for my stash of cards to send to local senior citizens.  (See my post here if you would like to send some cards.)  I love this little snail and made a few cards featuring him.

I was able to use up some more bits and pieces of paper from other projects, although I had to die cut the green and vellum circles.   A bit of washi, some sequins and a staple finished up the card.

I love printing sentiments using my computer.  There are so many free fonts available that I am always able to find something to use.   In this case, since I wanted to use a circle that was die cut sometime previously. (One of the bits and pieces.)  I printed the sentiment on a scrap piece of paper.    Then using a bit of 3M delicate surfaces (purple) tape I aligned the circle with the sentiment and then sent it back through the printer.  Easy peasy!

Thank you for stopping by!  Have a great day.
