Congrats on the New Nest

Hello!  Sorry I have been absent for awhile.   Life has been a little too busy for my to enjoy crafting or post on my blog.    I have a few minutes this morning while I'm drinking my coffee so I thought I would take a moment to share a recent project.

My daughter's friend recently moved into her first apartment so I made this card using one of Tiddly Inks cute Wren images.  This is the first time I colored dark hair.   (Well, actually my second - I threw out my first attempt on this image.)  I think that because I am blonde, I tend to color blonde hair.

We recently had a visitor to our yard, a female (I think) snapping turtle.   I think she was looking for a place to lay her eggs.   The first day we saw her we thought she just wondered off a little too far from the pond.  My husband and I were able to scoop her in a bucket and carry her back to the pond.  She was big and mad so it was a two person operation.  (Boy, she could really hiss! And I understand why they are called snapping turtles!)  The next day we saw her in our yard again.   That's when we realized it was around the time turtles lay their eggs so we let her be.  She scooted off into the underbrush and we haven't seen her since.  I hope everything worked out okay for her and she was able to get back to the pond with out encountering any predators (or well intentioned people interfering with her!)

Thank you for stopping by!  Take care!

You're So Tweet

I have had this image printed and sitting on my desk for a few weeks. I loved it the second I saw it but I just haven't had time to sit down and color it. So finally, over the long holiday week end, I was able to pull it out and make a card with it.

Aren't these birds cute? Originally the sentiment was supposed to say "Home Tweet Home" so I could sent it to my aunt and uncle who just bought a new home. Well, I don't have a craft area. So right when I was in the middle of "crafting" I had to clean off an spot on the kitchen table so I could give my daughter lunch. When I went back to my card, I could not find the sentiment. I tore everything apart looking for it but could not find it. My hubby even looked in the garbage for me. (Isn't he sweet? I gave him a kiss for that....after he washed his hands....and showered in Lysol....) I still couldn't find it so I went with "You're So Tweet!". Of couse when I was cleaning up when I finished the card, I found the sentiment stamp in my button container. Grrrrr... At least it wasn't lost for good.

Monday with Lindsay - Inspired by Nature

Our theme this week for Lindsay's Stamp Stuff is "inspired by nature" which was really easy and enjoyable for me. I tend to gravitate towards stamps with nature in them any how and Lindsay has a lot of stamp sets with birds, flowers, and leaves to work with.

When I sat down Thursday afternoon to start working on my card, my daughter also wanted to make a card. We both used the same image from Birds & Branches but our cards are totally different.

**Updated - This card made the top 5 in the Cupcake Craft Challenge.

The sentiment comes from a freebie from Lindsay's blog which was designed to coordinate with Birds & Branches.

This is my 8-year old daughter's card using the same image. I am so proud of her because she did EVERYTHING on this card except cut the card base and tie the knot in the floss in the button. She loves using my Big Shot and nesties. I think I might have to start watching my crafting supplies. :) She made this card to enter in Challenge #2 Buttons on Aimee's Challenge blog which encourages children to enter. I do not have a supplies list at the bottom of this post for her card because all the paper came from my scrap bin. (SU white CS for card base, image printed on GP CS)

Thank you for stopping by today. Please check to see how the rest of the DT was inspired by nature.
