You are the Best!

My family has had a bit of a rough summer.  I wanted to send a card to a friend to thank her for all the support she has given me.  I used and image colored during a  Kit and Clowder coloring class and paired it with the eclipse technique demonstrated by Jennifer McGuire.

The image is from the Elements of Nature coloring class from Kit and Clowder.  Below is a photo of my coloring while in progress.

In this image the coloring is complete but I have not yet cut the image to fit my card or cut out the letters for "YOU".

Thank you for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Special Delivery Snail

Hello!  I have another card for my stash of cards to send to local senior citizens.  (See my post here if you would like to send some cards.)  I love this little snail and made a few cards featuring him.

I was able to use up some more bits and pieces of paper from other projects, although I had to die cut the green and vellum circles.   A bit of washi, some sequins and a staple finished up the card.

I love printing sentiments using my computer.  There are so many free fonts available that I am always able to find something to use.   In this case, since I wanted to use a circle that was die cut sometime previously. (One of the bits and pieces.)  I printed the sentiment on a scrap piece of paper.    Then using a bit of 3M delicate surfaces (purple) tape I aligned the circle with the sentiment and then sent it back through the printer.  Easy peasy!

Thank you for stopping by!  Have a great day.

Supplies:

  • Stamp:  Snail Mail digital stamp from Gerda Steiner Designs
  • Paper:  Alla Prima 6x6 paper pad, Georgia Pacific white card stock, Paper Trey white card stock, Stampin' Up vellum
  • Other: Copic markers, white gel pen, sequins, mini stapler, washi tape

Hello!  I love this cute snail and had fun coloring him.  This card is for the stash that I am sending to spread cheer to some local seniors.  (See my post here if you would like to send them cards.)

I fussy cut the snail and used some bits and pieces of paper left from previous projects.   I printed the sentiment in Word using the Impact Label free font.

Drink Coffee!

Hello!  I'm popping in to share another card quick card for the Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Hop.

This card went together really quick.  I have a little bin on my desk that I use to save all the die cuts and little bits that I cut but didn't use on a card.  For this card the only thing I cut was the pink coffee cut lid and the pink heart, the rest of the pieces were in my handy little bin.

I feel like I want to add something to the card, but I'm not sure what.  I tried various sequins, gem stones, buttons, etc. but nothing seemed right so I left it as it is.

Life Happens, Coffee Helps

Hello!  I have not had a lot of time to craft lately and when I do have time, I am sadly lacking in creativity.  When I saw the post for the Spring/Summer  Coffee Lovers Hop, it was just the kick to get me going.  Although we finally had some nice, spring weather here, I spent some time in my craft room making cards for the hop.

Although I have quite a few coffee themed digital stamps and stamps, I used the hop as an excuse to purchase this cute owl on a coffee cup from  AlexShopsArt on Etsy.  The Echo Park Coffee and Friends 6x6 paper pad made these cards together pretty easily.

I am working to make a number of cards to send to a senior community.  I sent a care package before Christmas and hope to another one ready to send soon.  (If you would like to send cards or notes, please click here for the details.)  I'm sure some of these cards will make their way into the care package.

Don't forget to link up your creation and hop along with the Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Hop for lots of caffeinated inspiration.

Thank you for stopping by!

Easy Breezy Coneflowers

Spring is on the way.  I 've seen robins in the yard, red wing blackbirds at the feeders, and the sandhill cranes are back in the field next to our house.   At the back of our yard we have an area of wildflowers.  We planted milkweed seeds this fall and I hope some of the seeds grow into plants which will attract butterflies.  Even if the milkweed doesn't grow, we always have plenty of coneflowers to attract butterflies and bees.

When I saw this image from Power Poppy, I wanted to color it and think about the coming summer days.

Before I go I thought I would share a photo of my girls.  This was taken on the way home from the park after a long walk.  They are also happy that the weather is getting nicer so that we can take longer walks and enjoy the outdoors.

Thank you for stopping by!

Supplies:

  • Stamps:  Easy Breezy Coneflowers digital stamps from Power Poppy, Say It In Pieces digital stamp from Hero Arts
  • Paper:  Neenah Solar white card stock, My Mind's Eye Six by Six A Beautiful Life 6x6 paper pad, Paper Trey white card stock, Stampin' Up Vellum, Starbuck coffee sleeve

Succulent Hello

I wanted to try coloring succulents.  When I looked through my digi stamps I really didn't have anything sort of realistic so I started searching the internet.  Although there are quite a few wonderful digital stamps for sale, I found this digital stamp set from Mujka Clip Art for free!  This is a great set with several different pots and succulents.

After I found a digital stamp to color, I did research on the internet to try to determine the correct colors for the succulents.  When I was coloring the succulent on the right (echeveria?), I wasn't sure where its leaves stopped and the plant below it (string of pearls?) started.

Used papers in a neutral color to show off the image and to allow the card to be send to a man if needed.

What do you think?

Thank you for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Supplies:

  • Stamps:  Succulent Digital Stamps from Mujka
  • Paper:  Neenah Solar white card stock, Paper Trey white card stock, Stampin' Up Vellum, My Mind's Eye Stella and Rose Hattie 6x6 paper pad

Cute Fox

I can't wait until spring.  We have had so much snow and cold lately.  I'm tired of being cooped up in my house.  I think the two things I miss the most are taking my dogs for long walks (and not having to clean them afterward) and meeting my girl friends for outdoor (socially distanced) coffee dates.  I miss chatting with my friends!  I'm a little jealous of this little fox meeting his friend for a chat.

For a little added texture I die cut a Starbucks coffee cup sleeve.  (Maybe it was saved during one of the coffee chats with my friends...)

I hope you have a great day!  Thank you for stopping by my blog.

  • Stamps:  Cute Fox digital stamp from Lee Holland Art

Hello Peony

I tried my hand at applying the techniques I learned from the Free Rose Colouring Class from Kit and Clowder to this beautiful image from Conie Fong.  The image was a Advent give away from Kit and Clowder in December and I do not see that it is available for sale, but Conie Fong has many other beautiful images for sale in her Etsy shop.

The card design was inspired by this card on Jennifer McGuire's blog.

Supplies:

  • Stamps:  Peony digital stamp from Conie Fong Art  (free from from Kit and Clowder), Paper Trey Mega Mixed Messages, Verve Stamps Bountiful Backgrounds
  • Paper:  Georgia Pacific white card stock, Paper trey white card stock
  • Copic markers

Rose By Any Other Name...

I had some time off of work over the holidays and took the Free Rose Colouring Class from Kit and Clowder.  The class is free and includes this beautiful rose digital image from Power Poppy.  The class was excellent.  You can learn techniques for coloring the rose using pencils or markers.  Alyce is a great teacher.  She explains the art theory behind what she is demonstrating so that you can apply the techniques learned to other images.  I was so pleased that I purchased some additional classes.

I colored several rose images during and after the class.  This is my favorite of all the roses that I practiced on.  Since it was so pretty, I decided to fussy cut it and use it for a card.

Thank you for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Supplies:

  • Stamp:   Rose Digital Stamp Set from Power Poppy

Apple Picking Bear

I was scrolling through my collection of digital stamps looking for an autumn or Halloween image to print and color.  When I saw this bear from Birdie Brown I just had to pick him.  For some reason he reminds me of my brother. (Don't tell him!)

Here is a closer look at this sweet bear.  Now I want to make a trip to the apple orchard.  I love their cider donuts and better yet, cider shakes!

Since I printed 2 images and was able to color them both without wrecking one, I had to make another card.  I decided to try my hand at another shaker card.

Thank you for stopping by!  I hope you have a great weekend!

Supplies:

  • Image - Apple Bear digital stamp by Birdie Brown

Shine Bright Sunflowers

Hello!  I hope your weekend is going well.  After the thunderstorms we had at the end of the week, the weather is gorgeous now.  After posting this I am heading outside to enjoy the weather.

I have mentioned before that sunflowers are my favorite flowers.  Last week, I was scrolling through all the digital stamps available on Etsy and found this image from Twinkle Lane Designs.  I bought it immediately and started coloring with Copic markers that evening.   I had to wait until today to have time to make cards with the images.

For the first card, I kept the design pretty simple.  I used a few scraps I had from a  Penny Black paper pad, stamped a sentiment, and added some buttons and bakers twine.

For the second card, I used left over pieces from a My Mind's eye paper pad.  A dry embossed panel added some texture.   I popped up parts of both sunflowers to add dimension.

Here is a closer look at the dimension.

Thank you for stopping by!  Stay safe and healthy!

We Mermaid To Craft!

Hello!  This month the challenge at the Papercraft Challenge is Ocean / Water.   Although I did not need to post a project as a DT member until the August challenge, I wanted to participate.

This is the first time I colored hair a non-natural color.   I have to say I really struggled.   After coloring the image about six times, I finally settled on the image I used below.  This was also the first time I colored a water background.  I added sequins, Nuvo drops, and used glitter pen as accents.

This digital image is from Star Jam Lines on Etsy.

Don't forget to link up your entry into the Ocean / Water challenge at the Papercraft Challenge.

Thank you for stopping by!   Stay safe and healthy!

Hydrangea Hello and an Announcement!

Lately I have found coloring larger floral images relaxing so I spent sometime last week coloring this hydrangea digital image from Nina B. Designs

I colored the same image 2 different ways.  I kept the layouts pretty simple because the image is so big and bold.  One layout uses designer papers and one does not.  I used the same sentiment on both cards.

Which card do you like best?

I'm also excited to announce that I have joined the Papercraft Business Design Team!  You can find the Papercraft Business website and Papercraft Business Challenge by clicking the hyperlinks.    I can't wait to share the fun with you.

You Are My Sunshine

Hello!  The weather here in Wisconsin is pretty cold and dreary today so I thought it would be the perfect day to share a happy card.

I love sunflowers.  They always seem to make me smile.  When I saw the Summer Sunflowers digital stamp set at Graciellie Designs Shop, I had to buy it.  This is my first card using the set but I know I'll use it many more times.

For my card, I colored the sunflower with  Copic markers and fussy cut it out.  The sentiment also came from the digital stamp kit.  I found a clear plastic bracket when I was cleaning out my craft room a couple of weeks ago so I colored it with my Copics to coordinate with the designer paper I had picked out.  The card doesn't have has many layers as I usually use, but I like how it came out.

I hope you have a fabulous, sunny day.  Stay safe!

Cheryl

What's the Buzz?

Hello!  I hope you are doing well.  I am getting a little stir crazy while staying "Safer at Home" but at least I have been able to spend time in my craft room.

When scrolling through my library of digital images, I saw this cute little bee from Wings & Willows and though he would be perfect for some cards for friends.

For the second card, I used a sentiment in my library created by Doodle Pantry.

When I was adding links to my post I was sad to see that both of these shops have closed.

Thank you for stopping by!  Bee happy and stay safe!

Catered Crop–Seeing Red

Hello!  I’m back. I’m sorry I have been gone so long.  Things have been so hectic that I haven’t had the chance to spend time in my craft room for months.  I was able to sneak away to my craft room for a while this weekend and hope to make it a regular event.

I decided to use the Catered Crop’s Seeing Red recipe swap and take the opportunity to cook up some note cards to give to my mother in-law.  Although I only had time to make 4 cards, it was great to spend time in my craft room again.
