Ho Ho Ho Kitty

Earlier this week I was able to color 2 copies of this cute kitty image.  I used one on a card earlier this week and found time to make another.   This was supposed to be a quick card but cutting and gluing 3 layers of kraft paper and then the dp took some time.

This cute digi is free from Sliekje Digi Stamps

My inspiration to make Christmas cards has come from the BYSH Cardmakers.  Click on the image below to stop by the blog and link up your holiday card.

Thank you for stopping by!

Hang in There

I'm a little behind in sharing this card.  I made it for my uncle before he was moved to hospice.

I love this cute little elephant and teddy.   I colored a couple more but have yet to put on cards.

I found the star in my stash of left over die cuts.  The 2 small pieces of patterned paper were also left overs that I kept just in case they would be useful some day.  The CAS design of this card is a little out of my comfort zone but I like the way it turned out.

Thank you for stopping by!

Puppy Love

Love is in the air with St. Valentine's Day less than a week away.   Today I am sharing the Valentine's card that I made for my husband.

I love these adorable dogs from Tiddly Inks.  Don't they make the cutest couple?  It is a bit of an older digital stamp, but I never used it before because I wasn't sure how to color their fur.   But, after taking some coloring classes from Kit and Clowder, I gave it a try.  Although the male dog does have a bit of a back comb thing going on with his hair, overall I am satisfied.

I used some glittery, silver alpha stickers I found in my stash along with a die cut heart on the front.  I created and printed the inside sentiment using my laptop.

Thank you for stopping by!  Have a great day!

  • Stamps:  Puppy Love from  Tiddly Inks

Beary Happy Birthday

Hello!  I hope you had a wonderful Christmas.  Ours was very small and low key but I enjoyed the time with my family.  This year Christmas was a lot less hectic and more enjoyable although I missed seeing my extended family.

My baby brother is turning 50!  I can't believe it because I certainly don't feel over 50.  Anyway, for his birthday I had to use this new digital stamp from Power Poppy.  I don't know why, but as soon as I saw this stamp, I though of my brother.

I used the image again on the inside of the card along with a sentiment from the digital stamp set.

Thank you for stopping by.   I hope you have a safe, happy, and healthy 2021!

Give Thanks

I'm running out of time to post some Thanksgiving cards that I made for family.  I can't believe how quickly time is passing this month.   Both cards use the same image and pad of designer paper.

The ribbon in the above photo looks black but it is actually chocolate brown.

Thank you for stopping by!  Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving holiday.

Cozy Little Chickadees

I'm back and using the Cozy Little Chickadees digital stamp again.  Last week I posted an anniversary card  using this same cute image.   Although I love that this image can be used for occasions other than Christmas, this time I used traditional red and green to make a holiday card.

For texture, I die cut a Starbucks coffee sleeve and added it to the card.  I like keeping different types of coffee sleeves in my crafting supplies.   They are always good to add some texture or to die cut bits and pieces.  (On the anniversary card using this image, I used a Panera coffee sleeve for a different texture.

The inside of the card was finished with a sentiment stamp from Papertrey Ink and a piece of left over designer paper.

Thank you for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Supplies:

  • Stamps:  Cozy Little Chickadees digital stamp from Meljen's Designs, Holiday Wishes from Papertrey (inside sentiment)

You Make My Heart Sing

Our wedding anniversary is coming up soon.  I can't believe it has been 22 years!  Since I am back to having time to spend in the craft room, I knew I wanted to make a card for my hubby.

After looking through my stash of images and stamps, I decided to use this oldie (but a goodie) from Meljen's Designs.  Although this is more of a Christmas / Winter image, I thought it would be perfect for an anniversary card for my husband.  Not only do these chickadees make a cute couple, but my husband keeps our bird feeders full so I can enjoy watching the birds all year.

I printed the sentiments for the front of the card on vellum using my printer's "Best" setting.  Then I quickly poured on clear embossing powder and set it with my heat tool.  The hearts are die cut from a coffee sleeve from Panera.

I know the inside quote doesn't coordinate with the outside image, but it is a particularly accurate statement for our family's last few years.

Thank you for stopping by!  Stay safe!

Merry Kiss-mas

I hope you had a Happy Halloween.  We stayed home and kept everything pretty low key. Although I should work on cards for upcoming birthdays, an anniversary, and Thanksgiving before working on Christmas cards, I wanted to color this cute pup from All Dressed Up.  I love this image because it looks so much like my brother's dog, Magpie.

Fall Dance

Hello!  Today I wanted to share a card that I made using Fall Dance digital stamp from Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios.  I love this image.  It is another one that reminds me of my daughter when she was younger.

Today was a beautiful autumn day.  It was a little cool but the sun was out this morning. The leaves are beautiful.  My husband and I took our dogs to our local park for a walk and saw a bald eagle.  We don't see too many of those around here so it was kind of exciting.

I hope you have a great day!  Thank you for stopping by.

Wishing you Peace, Love, & Joy

Hello!  I hope all is well with you.  It has been a busy, crazy week here.  I live just outside Kenosha, WI and things have been a little crazy.  It is so sad to see what has happened in my hometown.  To finish off the week, I moved my baby girl to college.  I know she has a good head on her shoulders but I am still worried about her and all the usual college issues kids run into and then add COVID into the mix.  With all that going on, I needed some serious crafting therapy.

I decided to use one of the Lili of the Valley digital images I bought during a sale a couple of months ago. I used this sweet image, Snowy Robins, and paired it with non-traditional Christmas colors to make 2 new cards for my stash.

I used pretty much the same image, stamps, and papers to make 2 different cards.

Thank you for stopping by!   I hope you have a great day.

Fencing is Hard Work

Happy Monday!  Over the last couple of weeks, I decided to go back to my paper crafting roots and try my hand at some scrapbooking pages.

I love this photo of Liz.  My husband snapped it during fencing practice a couple of weeks ago.    When I watch fencing, the athletes make it look so easy and balletic, that I almost forget that is it such a physical sport.  I took some fencing lessons last year so that I could learn more about the sport that is my daughter’s passion.  To say I was a “hot mess” when I was done is an understatement.

If  you would like to learn more about fencing, here is a info graphic from the Guardian for the 2012 London Olympics that gives a great over view.   (slide 8)

In other, related news, earlier this month, we found out that Liz was picked to be a Taste Agent for Skratch Labs.   Skratch Labs products are designed to optimize performance using real, all-natural ingredients.  (You can read all the details on the Skratch Labs website.)

Guess the Christmas Carol and Win!

It's Christmas Carol week  at Great Impressions Stamps!

Read all about the details here.

Did I mention that prizes will be involved?!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

This week the Great Impressions Stamps DT is kicking off the holiday season.  We are inviting you to join in the fun by guessing the Christmas carol that inspired each of our projects this week for your chance to win some fun prizes.  You can read all the details here.

I think you will be able to figure out the Christmas carol that inspired my card and an extra project.  I included a clue to help you.

For both of my projects I used Saint Nicholas (E659) from Great Impressions Stamps.  I just love this image.   He looks  great colored but you can also leave him uncolored for another great look.

Here’s a closer look at St. Nick.  I just want to pinch his cheek.

Using the same image, I also created a Christmas themed wine bottle tag.  I like having a few of these tags around during to holidays to put on hostess gifts.  (They work great on all types of bottles, even fun, holiday scented hand soap.)

Great Impressions Stamps –Saint Nicholas

Hello!  Happy Monday!   Have you notice how quickly Christmas is creeping up?  I have seen people on Facebook that have already started the countdown.   It is going to be here before we know it.

I am still trying to get a jump on my Christmas cards.   I have a new card created with Saint Nicholas (E659) from Great Impressions Stamps  to share with you today.

2013-10-14 GI St Nick angled WM

Since this St. Nick image seems a little vintage, I decided to give the card a vintage / distressed feel.  A bit of cardboard (from a recycled Starbucks coffee sleeve), distressed edges, and twine add a little texture.

Great Impressions Stamps –Vintage Santa

I have another Christmas card to share with you today.  I love this Vintage Santa (G351) stamp from Great Impression Stamps.

2013-09-16 GI Vintage Santa WM

I wanted to give the entire card a bit of a vintage-y feel so I decided to stamp him on kraft paper and leave him uncolored.  I distressed the edges of the all the papers with my scissors and used some ink and paint to grunge them up a bit.  I broke out one of my favorite crafting items, a coffee sleeve from Starbucks, to add a bit of texture.  I hit a major score when I found some felt in one of my odds and ends drawers that coordinated with the papers so I cut out some holly leaves as an embellishment.

I like the way this card turned out.  I’m always nervous about leaving an image uncolored.   I’m worried about things looking unfinished.  But, in this case, I think it works.

If you are thinking about getting started on your Christmas and Holiday projects, stop by the Great Impressions Stamps on-line store to check out their great variety.

I am really feeling in the Christmas spirit this year. That is really saying a lot since my brother nicknamed me Scroogie McGrinch the last few years. I know, I know… on my blog I would still post Christmas cards but I really wasn’t feeling it. But, I am a strong believer in “fake it until you make it”. Act happy and energized (or in the mood for Christmas) and the next thing you know, you are starting to feel it. (Any of my Jazzercise friends want to give me a “Woo!”?) Any how, this year it is the real deal. I am feeling it my friends!   I have been playing Christmas songs since mid-November and am really enjoying making holiday projects.  I especially like how this one turned out.

For my project, I used the image the image “Xmas Tag” which is currently the image you can receive as a special gift with purchase.    In fact, for the duration of the hop, Mabelle is offering a special gift with purchase. With any order from the Whimsy and Stars Studio Etsy store, you can select one of two special images, Stocking Ted or Xmas Tag as your free gift.   Here is a look at both of the digis.

Since we are showing off Mabelle’s adorable Christmas and Winter digital stamps, I thought I would show you some of my favorite projects that I have created with them in the past.  Her images are just the sweetest and so fun to work with.
