Leaping Trout Father's Day

With Father's Day is quickly approaching, I started looking for a stamp to use to create a card for my dad who is avid fisherman.   I found the perfect digital image, Leaping Trout, from Power Poppy.  I used google to look at some images of rainbow trout so that I had a guide for coloring. I was really inspired by some of the painting by Anita Phillips.

After coloring the image, I decided to add a little something by using the eclipse technique for the letters "DAD".   After watching Jennifer McGuire's tutorial for the eclipse technique, I find myself using it frequently.  I think it just adds a little something special.

I finished the inside of the card with the image and a strip of designer paper.

Thank you for stopping by.  Have a great day!

Supplies:

  • Stamps:  Leaping Trout digital stamp set from Power Poppy
  • Papers:  Georgia Pacific white card stock, Photo Play Camp Happy Bear 6x6 paper pad, Paper Trey kraft and black card stock
  • Other:  Copic markers, alphabet dies from Papertrey, DMC floss, CTMH precut card board piece, Annabelle Stamps metallic gemstones

Happy Father's Day

Hello!  I'm popping in quick today to share a Father's Day card I made over the weekend.  I made this card for my dad using this hand drawn deer digital stamp from Divine Ink Creations on Etsy.  I added the sentiment.

I inked a piece of water color paper from Stampin' Up and then lined up in my printer to add the image and sentiment.  I used green and black card stock that I had handy and added some striped washi tape for interest.

Overall this card is more CAS than my usual style and I'm not sure I like it.  I guess it is good to go outside your comfort zone sometimes.

I hope you have a great day! Stay safe!

Cheryl

Serene Father’s Day Card

I’m back from my meetings for work and it is good to be home.   Things went well but I always hate doing presentations in front of people.   The worse part was that I ended up being the last presentation of the day so I was the only thing standing between them and dinner/cocktails.  I’m sure they were all listening to me…

I was able to get this card finished up before I left.  Since my dad is a big duck and goose hunter, I had to use the new stamp set that I bought from Sweet N Sassy, Serene Silhouettes, to make him a Father’s day card.  Check it out! Real stamps, no digis were used on this card.   (Don’t get me wrong; I LOVE digis but it is fun to use stamps and inks sometimes.)

I also had some fun with a little bit of paint.  Unfortunately it is a bit hard to see in this photo but I did stamp a polka dot background using paint on the blue panel.  I also did a bit of multi-generational stamping with the cattails stamp although most of it was cut off when I trimmed my image.

Well, enough babbling from me.  I’m going to go cuddle with my daughter to watch So You Think You Can Dance.  (I LOVE this show!)

Have a great day!   (Don’t forget the Fresh Brewed Designs blog hop starts this Saturday and I am thrilled to be participating!)

Thank you for stopping by!

Meljen’s Designs – Gone Fishing

Father’s Day is creeping closer so I thought I would share the card I made for my Dad for Father’s Day. If you don’t remember this Fisher Moose image, Melissa made it in remembrance of her father who loved fishing. Since my dad is also an avid fisherman, I thought it would be perfect.

I thought this cute little sentiment sign, from Raindrop Echo Designs, is also perfect for my dad. He has a HUGE lawn and it seems like anytime I call him during the summer, if he is not fishing, he is riding his tractor, mowing the lawn.

Before I forget, the challenge this week is RED, WHITE, and BLUE. You can find all the details on the Meljen’s Designs blog. Since it is Thursday, Melissa is also releasing new digis. These images will be in the Whimsy Stamps store today.

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you have a great week end!

Supplies:

  • Stamps: Fisher Moose by Meljen’s Designs, Great Day to Fish by Raindrop Echo Designs (Both available on Whimsy Stamps) and Just My Type by Technique Tuesday

Sentimental Sundays – Father’s Day Challenge

Hello! We have a very timely challenge for you this week. The Sentimental Sundays team is challenging you to make a card or project for a Father or special man in your life. (Don’t forget a sentiment!)

I am still trying to push myself out of my comfort zone a bit. I decided to try to use a photo on the card I was making for my husband for Father’s day. I love this picture of my hubby and daughter taken at Disney World last year. (I really hope he is not looking at this…. I know he usually doesn’t look at my blog and I’m trying to figure out how to turn off Networked Blogs so it doesn’t pop up on his Facebook page.)

I used a Whiff of Joy sketch for inspiration and then worked from there. The sentiment is from Raindrop Echo Designs. It was not designed as a ticket sentiment but I shrank it down, printed it on kraft and cut it out with a ticket die. I love the versatility of digital sentiments.

I hope you will stop by the Sentimental Sundays blog to see the creations from the rest of the design team. Our challenge this week is being sponsored by Meljen’s Designs and Raindrop Echo Designs. While you are there you can download the free sentiments from the talented Ann Vento of Raindrop Echo Designs. I hope you will join our challenge too!

Thank you for stopping by!

  • Stamps: Walkin’ With Dad sentiments by Raindrop Echo Designs (available on Whimsy Stamps), Just the Ticket by Papertrey

Meljen’s Designs–Best Dad

Hello! Thursday has once again rolled around and it is time for the new Meljen’s Designs challenge and new digi release. Our new challenge this week is “Kraft plus ONE color” (the image maybe colored).

I made a Father’s Day card using one of the digital images being released today, Papa Bear. I think I might have bent the rules of the challenge because my DP has white on it, which is another color. But, you know me, I’m always the rebel…

Also being the rebel (insert evil laugh here), I cropped out one of the little bears from the image. Since my husband and I only have one child, I wanted the image to reflect that. (You can see the sneak peek of the “as is” Papa Bear image and the other new releases below.) Melissa did a great job designing this image. The one “child” bear can be merged and multiplied to reflect different family sizes. Isn’t that cool? Check out this sample she did.

Here is a peek at all the new images being release by Meljen’s Designs on Whimsy Stamps today.

Before I wrap up my post, I wanted to let you know that Whimsy Stamps will be holding a blog hop on June 1 to show off the new digital images for the month of June. There are new images from Meljen’s Designs, Crissy Armstrong, Moon Cookie Gallery, and a new digital artist. Stop by the Whimsy Inspiration blog on June 1st to get the blog hop line up.

For A Special Dad

Whew! I got the Father's Day for my husband done in the nick of time.

I think I might have went a little nuts on the distressing but my husband always says he likes when I "rough up the edges so everything isn't all perfect." This card should be perfect for him.

I wanted to share one of my favorite pictures of my husband taken last year at our Halloween party / bonfire.

Thank you for looking!

Father's Day Card with Sentimental Sundays

Our new challenge on the Sentimental Sunday's blog is "New or Neglected Stash". I have a little bit of both on this card that I made for my dad for Father's Day.

The paper is from my "new stash". I bought most of it from Hobby Lobby a couple of weeks ago. The "Father" stamp is from my "neglected stash". Believe it or not, it is an actual stamp not a digi. Shocking isn't it? I bought this stamp a couple of years ago for Father's Day but then never used it. I also used a sadly neglected background stamp on the heart to give it a little texture.

Since the sentiment is a little hard to read in the photo, I will save your eyes and tell you what it says. "A father is someone who listens with his heart, speaks with his hugs, and teaches not by words but by example."

To make the white frame around the main panel, I used painters tape around the edges, sponged with the blue ink, and then removed the tape. (I'll let you in on a secret.....painters tape is one of my favorite items in my tool bag. I use it to make sure thick stuff doesn't slide on my Cricut mat, to hold my nesties in place, making frames, all kinds of stuff.)

Please stop by the Sentimental Sunday's blog to download your free sentiment and see the inspiration pieces by the rest of the DT. I hope you will join our "New or Neglected Stash" challenge.

Before I go, I'll share a picture of my dad with you. He used to be a line-man for the power company before he retired. (I used to think "Wichita Lineman" was about him when I was really little. I would also watch the "Electric Company" every day waiting to see him and never did. Hmmm...some people might think I wasn't too smart....) Anyhow, my brother took this photo last summer. He is about 12 feet in the air. Not bad for 67.
