Rose By Any Other Name...

I had some time off of work over the holidays and took the Free Rose Colouring Class from Kit and Clowder.  The class is free and includes this beautiful rose digital image from Power Poppy.  The class was excellent.  You can learn techniques for coloring the rose using pencils or markers.  Alyce is a great teacher.  She explains the art theory behind what she is demonstrating so that you can apply the techniques learned to other images.  I was so pleased that I purchased some additional classes.

I colored several rose images during and after the class.  This is my favorite of all the roses that I practiced on.  Since it was so pretty, I decided to fussy cut it and use it for a card.

Thank you for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Pumpkin Spice February Blog Hop

It is time for our monthly Pumpkin Spice blog hop!  The theme for the hop and our new weekly Pumpkin Spice challenge is HEARTS!

You should have hopped here from Heather’s blog.  If not, you might want to start at the hop at the beginning (Tanya’s blog), so you don’t miss any eye candy.

With this theme in mind, I had some fun creating some fun gifts for my daughter for Valentine’s Day.

2013-02-02 PSS Blog hop 1 WM

The first item is a bucket filled with goodies from the dollar section at Target.  I used Bazzill Basics card stock, Crate Paper Paper Hearts DPTwinery baker’s twine, and some miscellaneous odds and ends and stickers to spiff up this plan bucket for Valentine’s day.

2013-02-02 PSS Blog hop 2 WM

I bought bubble bath, lip balm, hand sanitizer and pencils to put in the bucket.   I couldn’t leave the pencils as they were so I opened them up and decorated them with some fringy fleece flowers and hearts cut from the Crate Paper Paper Hearts DP.    Of course I had to add some little twine bows too.

2013-02-02 PSS Blog hop 5 WM

I also have a stash of these empty jars from Penzey’s Spices.   For some reason I can never throw them out but this is the first time I have actually used them for a craft project.

2013-02-02 PSS Blog hop 6 WM

After filling the clean jar with M&M’s, I decorated it.  Again I used I used Bazzill Basics card stock, Crate Paper Paper Hearts DP, Twinery baker’s twine, ribbon, and some miscellaneous odds and ends.   I also had to use this sweet stamp, Love You from Mulberry Woods, because my daughter just loves this image.   The first time she saw it she said it was just like “you and me”.

2013-02-02 PSS Blog hop 4 WM

Of course I couldn’t leave the lid plain.

Meljen’s Designs Use Twine Challenge & a Sale!

Happy Thanksgiving to my readers in the US! Now that Thanksgiving is here, it means that the big push to Christmas is starting. I thought I would share a couple of gift card holders that I made using digital stamps from Meljen’s Designs.

I think a handmade gift card holder is a great way to warm up or personalize a gift card. Using the Gift Card Greetings metal die from Papertrey and a digi stamp from Meljen’s Designs is a a cute and easy way to make a holder for any gift card.

To decorate this gift card holder, I used one of the new images that Melissa is putting into the store today. Since Melissa has really been in the Christmas spirit lately, she has designed a lot of new, fabulous, Christmas themed images. Check all these out!

The new challenge on the Meljen’s Designs blog is “Use Twine or String”. I can’t wait to see what you come up with. To link up your project or see the challenge rules, see the Meljen’s Designs blog.

To help get you in the holiday spirit, Melissa is having a sale on her digital stamps. 50% off – is that awesome or what? (Click on the banner below to go to the store)

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you have a fabulous day!

Meljen's Designs - Challenge #36 a Sketch

My love of snowmen has been well established over the last week. But, after looking at Meljen's Designs new release this week, I have to say I think penguins might come in a close second.

Isn't this little guy just the cutest? I used my new Crate Paper dp. I love the fun colors. I swear there is olive in the DP to match the bow but I think it got covered up. I also added a lot of shimmer which doesn't show up very well in the picture. I added glitter to the white parts of his hate and spritz the entire thing with some glimmer mist.

Here is a look at the entire new release which you can get at Whimsy Stamps. While you are there, you might want to check out Melissa's new line of pre-colored digital images which will help to make card/gift making a breeze.

If you would like to join the Meljen's Designs challenge, this week we have a sketch for you. I hope you will join us for your chance to win some Meljen's digis.

I'm going to keep this post short. I am still battling my cold and my brain doesn't seem to be working its best. Thank goodness I was able to get my DT projects done before my cold hit. It has totally sapped my mojo.

Thank you for stopping by!
