Spreading Christmas Cheer

Over the last 2 weeks I have been trying to make cards to send to a senior community.  After all these months of isolation and with the holidays around the corner, I wanted to share encouragement and cheer.  I used 2 designs that were easy to replicate and used supplies on hand. I used up a lot of designer paper scraps.  All together I have 41 cards that I am sending.

Here is the first design with a variety of digital stamps, papers, and sentiments.

And here is the second design.

And I forgot to take a good photo of just a single card on this one.   It uses the same image with different papers from the same pack.

If you would like to send some cards, here is the information on where to send them.  Please share with your friends!  Cards or notes from crafters, children, or anyone that wants to send some encouragement are welcome.

Note from Danielle:

Thank you for stopping by today!

Whimsy & Stars Studio

I have a sad post to share with you today.  I decided to step down from the Whimsy & Stars Studio design team.   I have really enjoyed my time working with Mabelle and the team.    With my family responsibilities along with my new job, I find I have less and less time to craft.

I wanted to share some of my favorite projects created using Whimsy and Stars Studio images.   (If all works as planned, you should be able to view them as a slide show.)

I love working with all of Mabelle’s sweet images.   I know I will be stalking her blog and loving all of her new images.

Thank you for stopping by!

Whimsy & Stars Studio - Bee Happy

Hello and welcome to the Whimsy and Stars Studio March blog hop.  The design team will be showing off TWO new adorable images, Spring Bees and Welcome Spring.

If you arrive here from  the Whimsy & Stars Studio blog, you are on the right track.  If you are just joining us, you may want to start at the first stop on the hop, the Whimsy & Stars Studio blog, so you don’t miss out on anything.    Don’t forget to leave a comment at each stop for your chance to win!  Two random winners will win a digital image of their choice from the Whimsy and Stars Studio store.

For my project I used the new image, Spring Bees.    Aren’t  they sweet?   My card design was inspired by an old Deconstructed Sketch.  I added a few layers, stitching, and some of my favorite October Afternoon papers to make a cheery card.

Whimsy & Stars Studio - Spring Hat Bunny

Hello!  Happy Tuesday!  Today I have a card to share with you made using Spring Hat Bunny (digital stamp) from Whimsy & Stars Studio

2013-02-18 WSS Spring Hat Bunny WM

I tried a new (for me) technique although it is hard to see it in the photo.  I wet a scrap of burlap with Copic colorless blender and pressed it to the bunny’s hat to add some texture.    At this time, I didn’t put a sentiment on the card because I usually only need a couple of Easter cards.  I left it blank so I can use this for Easter or another occasion.

One Little Christmas Tree

The entire time I was working on my card, the song “One Little Christmas Tree” was going through my head.   Do you remember that one?  (If not, you can hear it here.)  “One little Christmas tree can light up a home….”  Isn’t it perfect with this cute image?

Speaking of this cute image, did you get a chance to download this from the Whimsy and Stars Studio blog a couple of weeks ago?   If not, it’s too late now but make sure you sign up as a follower so that you don’t miss out on any future freebies.   (You can also keep in touch in the Whimsy & Stars Studio group on Facebook HERE.)

I tried something different (for me) again.  This card fits in a business sized envelope.  I also wanted to use the negative space from the die cut letters.    The only difficulty that I had was running the PTI card stock through my printer.  Although I love their paper, my printer is not a fan and doesn’t want to run it through with out jamming.

I hope you have a fabulous week!  Thank you for stopping by.

2012-12-04 WSS Blog Hop Tag card B WM

I am really feeling in the Christmas spirit this year. That is really saying a lot since my brother nicknamed me Scroogie McGrinch the last few years. I know, I know… on my blog I would still post Christmas cards but I really wasn’t feeling it. But, I am a strong believer in “fake it until you make it”. Act happy and energized (or in the mood for Christmas) and the next thing you know, you are starting to feel it. (Any of my Jazzercise friends want to give me a “Woo!”?) Any how, this year it is the real deal. I am feeling it my friends!   I have been playing Christmas songs since mid-November and am really enjoying making holiday projects.  I especially like how this one turned out.

2012-12-04 WSS Blog Hop Tag card WM

For my project, I used the image the image “Xmas Tag” which is currently the image you can receive as a special gift with purchase.    In fact, for the duration of the hop, Mabelle is offering a special gift with purchase. With any order from the Whimsy and Stars Studio Etsy store, you can select one of two special images, Stocking Ted or Xmas Tag as your free gift.   Here is a look at both of the digis.

Since we are showing off Mabelle’s adorable Christmas and Winter digital stamps, I thought I would show you some of my favorite projects that I have created with them in the past.  Her images are just the sweetest and so fun to work with.
