You Make My Heart Sing

 Our wedding anniversary is coming up soon.  I can't believe it has been 22 years!  Since I am back to having time to spend in the craft room, I knew I wanted to make a card for my hubby.  

After looking through my stash of images and stamps, I decided to use this oldie (but a goodie) from Meljen's Designs.  Although this is more of a Christmas / Winter image, I thought it would be perfect for an anniversary card for my husband.  Not only do these chickadees make a cute couple, but my husband keeps our bird feeders full so I can enjoy watching the birds all year.  

I printed the sentiments for the front of the card on vellum using my printer's "Best" setting.  Then I quickly poured on clear embossing powder and set it with my heat tool.  The hearts are die cut from a coffee sleeve from Panera.

I know the inside quote doesn't coordinate with the outside image, but it is a particularly accurate statement for our family's last few years.

Great Impressions Stamps – So Happy Together

Happy Monday!   I decided to take a break from Christmas cards this week.   I needed to step away from all the red and green for a bit.  Instead, I inked up this sweet image, Giraffes (H05), from Great Impressions Stamps.

 

 

When I first looked at this step, something with a mother and child or father and child theme jumped into my head.  

 

 

But this time when I looked at this stamp, I thought they look like a happy couple.  I decided to use these sweet giraffes to create an anniversary card.  (My hubby and I are coming up on our 15th wedding anniversary!)

Catered Crop - Glitter Recipe Challenge

On my way home from work last night, I was thinking about my blog post and all the fun, witty things I had to say, especially about glitter.    I got home, made dinner, cleaned up, took care of my daughter, dog and parrot, threw in a load of laundry and FINALLY sat down to type up my post.    And guess what?   I can’t think of a single fun or witty thing to say.  So, I guess I’ll just get down to business.

 

The current recipe swap at the Catered Crop is all about glitter.   Show us your beautiful, sparkly creations.  For my project, I covered Thickers alphabet stickers with red glitter.    I kept my card design pretty simple so that the glittery letters could really shine. (Pun intended!)

Pumpkin Spice - X’s and O’s

Hello!  Today is my day to post on the Pumpkin Spice blog.  This week’s challenge is to use X’s and O’s in your creations.   Denine further challenged the DT to see what we could make with the focus on designer paper and only use stamps for sentiments.   This idea popped into my head immediately.    (Gosh, I love when that happens!)

 

 

 

On the back side of my top layer, I measured and marked where I wanted the die cuts.   Although I used metal dies, you could do the same thing with your die cutting machine.  The pieces of designer paper are adhered to the back side of the white piece so it shows through the negative spaces.    I think there are so many possibilities to this design.  You could use other words or shapes to fit any occasion.    I finished off my card with stitching because, well, I almost always use stitching.  I couldn’t resist adding some coordinating bakers twine.  

The sentiment was added by creating my own, custom rub-on.  You can find a tutorial here.

Great Impressions Stamps–This Is How I Roll

Happy Monday!  Today I have another card created using one of the kitchen themed stamps from Great Impressions Stamps.   This fun stamp is “I Roll” (E768).

 

 

To continue with the homey feel from the stamp, I used some October Afternoon papers, twine, a doily and pearls.  All these things make me think of Grandma’s kitchen.   I can almost smell the cookies or pie that she is baking.

Although this is all so homey and cozy, I have to admit that I had the  song from LMFAO with these lyrics running through my head the entire time I was crafting.    Everybody sing it with me, “This is how I roll…”

Something about this stamp, Sweetie Pie (F419), struck my fancy as soon as I saw it .  I originally was going to use red, pink and other Valentine’s day colors to make a traditional Valentine’s Day card but I decided that these homey papers from OA would work better.    I added a few stickers so that it would say “U R my Sweetie Pie”.

Like Peas & Carrots

Today is my hubby and I’s 14th wedding anniversary.   This is the card I made for him. 

 

The colors in the photo are slightly darker than real life.  The matting is carob brown, not black as it looks here.    Oh well. 

He says all my cards are the same so I tried to change it up a bit with this card.  I think this is pretty CAS for me.  There is NO SEWING and hardly and DP.   Check out all that white space.   I feel the need to fill it, but I showed some restraint.  :)

Today my hubby and I are celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary. When we met in 1991 at a dance club, little did I image then that we would be married and still together 20 years later. I’m so glad he asked me to dance.

Just a Sentimental Fool

This week on the Sentimental Sundays challenge we are asking you to get sentimental with us and make a sentiment the focus of your project. This challenge is sponsored by Raindrop Echo Designs and Heart Song Designs.

Every other week, Ann Vento of Raindrop Echo Designs creates a sentiment set using quotes from a member of the DT for the weekly freebie. Last October, I was asked to supply my favorite quotes and Ann created this gorgeous digi sentiment. I paired it up with another sentiment set from Ann, Fancy Curvy Frame-Dots which is available at Whimsy Stamps. I love the versatility of digital stamps. You can resize them, recolor them, flip & rotate them, or, in this case, I place my digi sentiment inside the digi frame and printed them out. I printed it twice, once on red paper and once on the graph type paper and pieced them together for the look you see here. I love these new papers that I bought and couldn’t wait to use them. I used all old embellishments from my stash to add some detail.

Whimsy Stamps April Digi Blog Hop

I know I say it every time but really, the new images are just the cutest. I don't know how these talented artists keep coming up with cuter and cuter images each month. For my card, I used Bunny with Flowers, a new digi from Crissy Armstrong. I also used a digital sentiment from Raindrop Echo Designs, which is available on Whimsy Stamps, and coordinates perfectly with this sweet bunny. I like this image and sentiment together because the card can be used for so many different occasions, Easter, Mother's Day, Get Well, Thinking of You.

I am the last stop on the hop which means I will be hosting the drawing for the Grand Prize. The Grand Prize consists of 5 new digital stamps of the winner's choice from Whimsy Stamps. Sentimental Sundays Challenge #32 - Anniversary

I had great ideas for this card but I think being sick all week kind of put a damper on my mojo. Even though I'm not really happy with this card, I have to admit I really like these coffee cups.

Mojo Anniversary

As I mentioned in my previous post, tomorrow is our 12th wedding anniversary. I used the Mojo Monday sketch 163 to give me some inspiration to make a card for DH.

This is the 3rd attempt at an anniversary card and my 2nd remake of this one. It just wasn't working for me. Thank goodness for that little spatula thingy in the Cricut tools. It works great to peel up the layers of card stock. I added some paper piercing to add a little interest.

We are planning on having a date night tonight. We are very excited to find our favorite chef opened a new Mexican fusion restaurant and I think we will be heading up to Milwaukee to check it out. (Thank you to my MIL for taking my DH overnight!)

For The Love Birds - Happy Anniversary

The new challenge on the Meljen's Designs challenge blog is Fiber, Ribbons or Lace. I used the opportunity to make an anniversary card for my sister & brother-in law.







I colored my ribbon using Copics and then threaded through the lace. I love that look. The kraft layers were distressed to add some texture.


My friend Joy found the sheet music for me at a antique/fleet market. She picked up several different packs and I could not wait to use it.

I think my mojo is back!

I made this for my wedding anniversary. I know the sentiment is a little strange - but it makes sense if you know my hubbie.

I used Lindsay Weirich's cute digital coffee mug. Be sure to check out Lindsay's blog and her store.

I made the sentiment using WordArt (in MS Word) I used the RGB codes to match the CTMH paper.

All paper (except white base and brown) is from the CTMH Magic Moments pack.

The ribbon was a scrap in the bottom of my green ribbon container and the rickrack is from Martha Stewart.

I paper pieced the cup and saucer from the CTMH paper. Colored in the steam on the blue cup back. Accented with Gelly Roll clear glitter pen.
