Halloween Treat Bags

I just have a quick project to share with you today. I wanted to make up a few Halloween treat bags. I had these black lunch style bags from my blogging friend Maria of Crafty Cre8tions that I wanted to use.

Since I only had a little bit of time, I wanted to try to put together something relatively quick. I had these cute clip art images from Dover Publications that I printed out. (You can sign up on their blog for free, weekly samples.) I also used some doilies, embellies, and papers scraps that I had laying around my craft room. I added a Vintage Halloween Label from Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff. With the shading on the image, it was a snap to color these and cut them out using Nesties.

Don’t forget you still have time to enter the Halloween challenge at Sentimental Sundays.

Thank you stopping by! Have a great day!

Supplies:

  • Images: Vintage Halloween Clip Art from Dover Publications, Vintage Halloween Labels by Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff on Mygrafico
  • Papers: Echo Park Apothecary Emporium, Georgia Pacific CS
  • Inks: Distress Inks in Antique Linen & Tea Dye
  • Tools: Big Shot, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Copic markers
  • Embellishments: misc. doilies, twine, buttons, brads, plastic spiders etc.

Sentimental Sundays Challenge #43 - photo inspiration

This week at the Sentimental Sundays challenge we have a photo inspiration challenge. The inspiration is a photo taken by my brother at the lighthouse in my home town. Isn't it an awesome shot?

Kenosha's North Pier Lighthouse

(If you like the photo, you can leave him a comment in his Flickr gallery here.)

I was inspired by the colors and texture of this photo. I used a light blue paper with a swirl pattern and added some lace to mimic the texture of the ice and spray.

I hope you will join us for the Sentimental Sundays photo inspiration challenge. Be sure to tell us how you were inspired by the photo and don't forget to include a sentiment! This week the challenge is also being inspired by Lindsay's Stamp Stuff. Check out all the great images, papers, and SVG files in her mygrafico store. Also stop by the Sentimental Sundays blog to see all the beautiful creations from the rest of the DT and download your free sentiments from Raindrop Echo Designs.

Thank you for stopping by!

Lindsay's Stamp Stuff - Love Notes

Valentine's Day is coming! I was "feeling the love" this weekend and created my first Valentines card of the year.

Although it is not a typical Valentines card, I really love the way it turned out. The sentiment was computer generated using the Veteran Typewritter font (a freebie). I like creating my own sentiments because you can type in any sentiment you want.

Stop by to visit the rest of the DT's blog. I know they have some wonderful projects for you to look at. Lindsay will have her weekly freebie on her blog.

After the holidays it always seems like we need so many thank you cards. When I was looking through my stamp sets this week end, I decided to break out this cute chick from the LSS set Cute Easter.

It was fun breaking out an Easter set to use at this time of year. I love it when you do that.

Here is a look at the entire set.

Lindsay's Stamp Stuff - Just My Type

This week I wanted to make a masculine card. Since I haven't used it too much, I thought I would play around with Lindsay's Steam Punk style digital stamps set.

I have to say I enjoyed making this card. The vintage typewriter image was colored using distress inks. It was so easy because the shading is already provided in the image. I slit the image using my craft knife so I could insert the typed message. You could put any message you wanted here. I printed mine using Word and cut to size.

Here is a look at the entire set.

I also have an enabler alert for you! Mygrafico is having their New Year retirement sale through January 9th. All retiring sets are only $1.00. Yep, just $1.00, I didn't make a typo.

Here is a list of Lindsay's Stamp Stuff sets that you will be able to get for just $1.00.

Lindsay's Stamp Stuff - Terrific Tags

This week Lindsay challenged her DT to make some Christmas tags. Tags are the perfect way to use up the little bits and pieces you have left over after your projects. I whipped up some tags in 2 different designs using Lindsay's free shipping tag SVG file as the base.

This first tag design used up some of the pieces I had left after creating the altered treat jars this past week end. I had cut out several of these snowflakes and covered them with Glimmer Mist with the intent to use them on my jars. I just couldn't fit them in the design so I decided to use them on the tags instead of wasting them. The green sheet music was left over from this project. I just love using up all this stuff instead of having to store it some where or wasting it.

I had the strip of polka dot paper and the red punched CS left over from a previous project. Although I did not have the holly precut, I did use scraps of paper to piece it together.

Thank you for stopping by today! Be sure to visit the rest of the DT to see either terrific tag projects and Lindsay will have a freebie for you on her blog.

Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Treat Jars

I have an extra Lindsay's Stamp Stuff project to share with you this week. You may remember the altered canning jar that I made for giving Sugared Cinnamon Almonds to my daughter's teachers, the mail man, and other people that I wanted to give a little something to. The jar I used for my initial idea ended up being a little big. This week end I altered 9 smaller jars to use instead. I followed my initial idea but made everything on a smaller scale.

I made 4 pounds of the Sugared Cinnamon Almonds using my Nesco on Sunday. The Nesco is large enough that I could do all of them at once. I am planning to make some treat bags to give out some of the rest of the nuts. (Or, at least that is the plan. I am running out of time and my nuts are some how disappearing!)

I didn't have a post for the Sentimental Sundays Challenge this week. The theme this week is "Inspired by Song". Join in the fun for your chance to win 4 digital sentiment sets & a custom signature and watermark from Raindrop Echo Designs. My project is inspired by song too - Santa Claus is Coming to Town. Doesn't it look like he is saying "You Better Not Pout" or "You Better Not Eat all the Nuts"?

Thank you for stopping by today!

Lindsay's Stamp Stuff - Sweet Treats

This week Lindsay challenged her DT to come up with some ways to package holiday treats. Since I am finally kicking my cold, I actually felt like I was able to create something. Believe it or not but it turned out how I pictured it in my head. That almost never happens for me.

I have to admit it was pretty easy to make this. Don't you love when a plan comes together. I could easily see making several of these for teachers, the mail man, etc. I did not tie the ribbon (which makes it vastly quicker and easier for me). I stuck it to the doily and the jar (recycled) using score tape. I then stuck it together on the left side where it comes together and looped/tied the bakers twine around it to hold it. Although you can't see it here, I used my circle nesties to cut a piece of coordinating cardstock and slipped it ontop of the metal lid but held in place with the ring.

You may be asking what the heck is in that jar? They are Cinnamon Sugar Almonds and they are AWESOME. I had to beat my husband off them with a spatula so that I would have enough to fill my jar. They are just like the ones you get at the fair in the summer. They have the added bonus of making your house smell WONDERFUL. And, best yet, they are EASY! A few minutes to prep, dump in them in the slow cooker (or I make 4 bags at a time in my Nesco) and then you leave them except to stir them for 2 hours. If you would like to try yourself, here is the recipe for the Sugared Cinnamon Almonds. I also like that the recipient doesn't have to eat them right away like a lot of the home made goodies you get. You can enjoy these in January with a cup of hot cocoa when all the cookies are nothing but a memory (and another dimple on my thighs.)

I love this Santa image. Doesn't he look like he is saying "Better not pout"? He is super easy to color because all the shading is already done for you.

Make sure you stop by the Lindsay's Stamps Stuff shop on mygrafico.com. Lindsay has been adding fabulous sets (digital stamps, digital paper, clip art, SVG files) like crazy. Remember that the clip art sets are wonderful for quick cards. Mygrafico is having a one-day only sale today. Everything is 40% off!

I'll leave you now so you can check out the sale and visit the other DT members to see what kind of sweet treats they cooked up for you. Remember to stop by Lindsay's blog to grab her weekly freebie.

Lindsay's Stamp Stuff - Quick Christmas Cards

This week Lindsay challenged her DT to create quick (10 minute or less) cards. (Think easy to "mass produce", even though I don't like this phrase for hand made items.)

Here are the steps to make this card.
  1. Cut a standard A2 (5-1/2 x 4-1/4 inches) card base. You can get 2 card bases out of a single piece of CS by cutting it at the 5-1/2 mark. You could also use pre-cut/purchased card bases.

  2. I cut another piece of card stock slightly smaller (approximately 5-3/8 x 4-1/8 inches). You will get 4 of these and a little scrap out of single piece of card stock.

  3. I ran the above piece through my Big Shot using an embossing folder. I used the large dots because I like them but you can use any folder you like. The snowflake folder would look good too.

  4. I imported the sleigh clip art image into MS Word and reduced to 35%. I used the "Rotate" image button to flip it horizontally. I didn't count how many of these you can get on a single page, but you can get quite a few. Print using the "best" quality and "color" settings on your printer.

  5. I used my Big Shot and Spellbinders Nestabilities dies to cut my circle. (TIP: Use painter's tape to hold your die where you want it when running it through your die cut machine. It prevents it from moving and is easy to peel off.) You can trace a circle and hand cut or use any circle cutting system you have.

  6. I imported the designer paper into MS Word. I changed my margins to "0" on all sides and dragged the DP image to cover the entire page. Print using the settings mentioned above.

  7. Cut the DP into strips 2 x 5-3/8 inches. Again, I didn't count how many you get, but there are quite a few.

  8. I had coordinating aqua CS in my stash. You could skip using it or use another coordinating color. I cut a strip 2-1/8 x 5-3/8 inches to mat my DP strip. I cut an additional piece using my Big Shot and a Spellbinders label die. You could mat the sleigh with another circle, a scallop, what ever you would like or skip this step.

  9. Adhere the layers together. (See my note on paper piercing below.) I added a piece of velvet ribbon I had in my stash. I didn't tie in a bow to keep the card flat and easier to mail. I also found it quicker if I didn't have to fuss with a bow.

  10. Add any additional embellishments you would like. I stamped "Noel" and added 3 gemstones.

Note: On my card, I added some paper piercing around the circle and the white embossed panel. Again, you could skip this but I liked the little extra it added. It did take some extra time. If you want to pierce your paper, do it before adhering the layers together.

If you have questions on any of these steps, please feel free to email me at shestamps11-blogs at yahoo dot com.

I hope this inspires you to get those Christmas & holiday cards made. Please visit the blogs of the rest of the DT to see what they have to show you this week.

Lindsay's Stamp Stuff - Doodle Flowers Friend Card

Happy Thanksgiving to all my blogging friends in the USA! I hope you enjoy the day. Are you venturing out on Black Friday? I won't. I don't really like crowds; they bring out the worse in me. Better I just stay home and cyber shop. Or better yet, craft!

Lindsay gave her DT the week off to celebrate Thanksgiving with our families but I found this card when I was cleaning up my photo files earlier this week. Since it has never been posted, I thought I would you today.

This is one of the cards I sent in to Operation Write Home (OWH) a few months ago. Although it is too late to send in Christmas cards for this year, they collect cards for all occasions and our troops really appreciate them.

Lindsay's Stamp Stuff - Season's Greetings

This week I wanted to try a little something different on my LSS card. I paper pieced the holly image from Nature's Christmas and then used the cracked glass technique on it. I don't think the picture does it justice, it looks really pretty in real life.

I think the holly would also look really pretty covered with glitter instead of the UTEE.

If you are starting to work on your Christmas cards, make sure you check out these Lindsay's Stamp Stuff digital stamp sets. They are gorgeous, versatile and fun to work with.

Don't forget about the "Don't Shop, Crop" virtual crop in the mygrafico class room which Lindsay is hosting. It is free to join and sure to be a lot of fun. So instead of fighting the crowds on Black Friday, come spend some time at the crop. Or drop by when you are done shopping for some craft time.

Holiday Wishes with Lindsay's Stamp Stuff

Here I am working on my Christmas card stash again. The weather is turning cool, Christmas is creeping closer and I need LOTS more Christmas cards.

I have to admit that I really like this one. I paper pieced the poinsettia from Lindsay's Nature's Christmas set. I did it in 4 layers (1 green for leaves, 2 red for large petals, 1 red for small petals) but you could do it in less. I used my stylus on the back of the leaves to give them some shape and dimension. I used my Copic markers to darken the shading a bit. Lastly, my clear glitter pen was used on the edges and lines for a little sparkle. I kept the lay out simple so as not to detract from this gorgeous image.

Please visit the rest of the DT to see their creations this week and pop over to Lindsay's blog for her weekly freebie.

I recently had the need for another sympathy card. I decided to use Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Leaf Prints to keep it seasonal.

Although it looks black in the photo, the matting with the edge punch is chocolate brown. I used cork squares to add some interest and texture. The leaves were printed in brown and colored using Q-tips with ink pads.

Please stop by the rest of the DT to see what kind of goodies they have created this week. Lindsay will have a freebie for you on her blog. Be sure to stop at the store to check out all the new, fabby sets that are for sale.
