Vintage Easter

I can’t believe Easter is already coming up. This year is already flying past. And I have so many Easter images to still play with!

This week I wanted to color this sweet image from Whimsy & Stars Studio. Isn’t she adorable?

2012-04-03 WSS Bunny card WM

I don’t remember if I mentioned it before, but when spraying items with glimmer mist I always put some flattened coffee filters in the box under them to catch the overspray. Letting the overspray just coat the box seems like such a waste. The coffee filters always looks so pretty and shimmery and I have big ideas on what I can do with them. (Of course up until now it was all ideas.) So for this card, I broke out my stash of shimmery coffee filters and finally used them. I die cut flowers out of my filters and then sprayed them with my Copic Airbrush system to make them the correct color. Although the photo doesn’t pick it up, IRL the flowers have a beautiful shimmer. See, I knew those coffee filters would come in handy some day. (I also sprayed the lace a bit to make it coordinate with the designer papers a little better.)

Thank you for stopping by! Have a great day!

Supplies:

  • Stamps: Springtime Basket Bunny (digital stamps) from Whimsy & Stars Studio

Springtime Chickie

For my Whimsy & Stars Studio DT post this week, I played around with the adorable Springtime Toadstool image again.   I love this little chick.   This time I added a little Fun Flock to make him fuzzy.

2011-03-29 WSS Chick 2nd editWM

To create the clouds in the background, I tried something new.  I used the cloud template created by Bev Rochester and this tutorial from Jan Hunnicutt.  Check out the blogs of both of these talented ladies.  I like the way these clouds look and it was much easier than some of the other techniques I have tried.

Be sure to stop by the Whimsy & Stars Studio store to check out all of the adorable spring and Easter images.

Thank you for stopping by!  I hope you have a wonderful day!

Supplies:

  • Stamps:  Springtime Toadstool (digital stamp) by Whimsy & Stars Studio

Birdhouse In Your Soul

I have another sweet Whimsy & Stars Studio image to share with you too. This little cutie, Bird House Girly, is just perfect for spring. I especially love her because I enjoy feeding and watching our local birds.

Once again, I made 2 cards. One for my stash and one for OWH or my daughter’s schools fundraiser. They use the same design but the papers and embellishments are a little different.

While I was working on my cards, this song kept running through my head. Since it was such a long time since I heard this song, I thought I would share it on Marcea’s blog for Music Saves My Soul.

It’s time to announce the new Meljen’s Designs challenge and give you a look at the new images going into the store today. As you probably guessed, the challenge this week is to use BRADS. I used one of the new images, Pumpkin Crow, to make this card. (My brads are the flower centers.)

Here is a look at the new digital images going into the store today.

While you’re checking out the Meljen’s Designs store, be sure to check out the new pre-colored digis Melissa added earlier this week. Using precolored digis makes creating cards (or other paper crafts) a snap.

Stop by the Meljen’s Designs blog to see the projects using the new digis from the rest of the DT.

Have a great day!

Sweet Little Chickadees

The weather around here had turned a bit cold and the birds are flocking to my bird feeders. Although we have a few black capped chickadees year round, we have more of these adorable little birds in the cold months. They are so cute and make the funniest sound.

Seeing the chickadees back at my feeder inspired me to use this image, Cozy Little Chickadees, from Meljen’s Designs to make a Christmas card. (Yes, another one done!)

I love the DP that I used. I think it looks perfect for Christmas. I don’t think it was designed for Christmas since the coordinating stamp set had butterflies and such. Oh well, I like it better as Christmas paper. The colors are perfect.

I made my own embellishments for this card. The ribbon was winter white Hug Snug seam binding that I dyed using my BG72 Copic ink refill and some Glimmer mist. The snowflakes were punched out of vellum, covered with Versa mark ink and then embossed using Ranger Bridal Embossing Tinsel. (They look even prettier in real life!) I finished them off by coloring some clear gemstones with my BG75 Copic marker so that they would coordinate with the paper.

My card also fits the new Meljen’s Designs challenge, which is HOLIDAY – CHRISTMAS. Melissa is releasing some new images to the store today that are perfect for the challenge. Here is a little looksee. Stop by the Meljen’s Designs blog to see what some of the DT has created using these cuties.

Thank you to every one that wished me good luck. Woo hoo! I am able to wear a regular shoe and drive again. Hurray!

Thank you for stopping by!

How Much For That Kitty In the Window?

Hello my blogging friends! It has been a busy week but I feel like I’ve been productive. Although I haven’t gotten a lot of crafting done, I got a ton of things completed for work and I did some organizing around the house. I have a friend that is having a sale of crafting supplies in her home next week end and I was able to get some stuff together to include in the sale. I hope it sells so that I can spend the money on new, fun crafting supplies.

<Insert smooth segue here – ha ha ha> Speaking of new crafting goodies, Meljen’s designs released some new digi stamps today. You can get them at Whimsy Stamps. One of the new images is Window Kitty, which I used in my project.

What do you think of my button flower? I wanted to try something new. I made it using glue dots, twine, and buttons of course. I only had to pry it off my desk a few times before I had it completed. (It’s a great way to use up some of my stash of buttons and twine!)

The challenge this week at the Meljen’s Designs blog is “Buttons & Bows”. We would love for you to play along with us. You can link up your project and find all the details at the Meljen’s Designs blog. When you are there, you can see all the inspiring projects from the DT for the challenge.

Before I finish up, here is a peek at all of the new digis being released today. All are available at Whimsy Stamps.

Whimsy Stamps is releasing their new rubber stamps and dies for July on the 15th. Sneak peeks are available on the Whimsy Inspirations blog. Don’t forget to hop along with the talented Whimsy rubber stamp designers for prizes starting on July 15th.

Sentimental Sundays–Birthday Bumps

I hope your weekend is going well! Our challenge this week at Sentimental Sundays is “Anything goes with a sentiment”. How easy is that? I love it because it gave me the chance to use one of my new Lili of the Valley stamps. I finally splurge and ordered a few. I say “splurged” because I hate paying shipping. I couldn’t find a store in the US that carries them so I had to pay for over seas shipping. Oh well, they are so cute they were well worth it.

I enjoyed coloring up these little guys. I tried a new technique to make the sky background. It was so easy and I love the way it worked out. I would share the link to the tutorial but I can’t find it. I thought I had it saved on one of my Pinterest boards, but….. (If anyone recognizes the technique using copic refills and qtips, let me know so I can give proper credit.) On a good note, I can share the link to the tutorial for the flowers HERE.

Before I forget, I used an old Lili of the Valley sketch found HERE.

These little bears remind me of summer days with my friends when I was a kid. We never were able to toss each other up in the air like this but we would put a stuffed animal on a blanket and toss it around. We tried to get it as high in the air as we could with out dropping it when it came down. Did you have “parachutes” at school? It was one of my favorite things. We would all hold and edge of the parachute and a bunch of balls were put on it. We would “pop corn” and try to keep all the balls on it. What simple fun!

While you are here, don’t forget to check out my blog candy on this post.

I hope you will join in the Sentimental Sundays “Anything Goes with a Sentiment” challenge for your chance to win your choice of 4 digital sentiment sets from Raindrop Echo Designs. Stop by the Sentimental Sundays blog to see the rest of the inspiration from the DT and pick up your free digital sentiment set for the week.

Sentimental Sundays–Get Patriotic!

We have another fun challenge for you this week at Sentimental Sundays. The new challenge is “Patriotic”. We want you to use the colors of your nation’s flag for your creations. Don’t forget to include a sentiment!

With Independence Day coming up, I wanted to try to make something that celebrated our nation’s history and fit the challenge theme. I thought that this famous quote from John Dickinson, which was a freebie on the Sentimental Sundays blog last year, would be perfect.

I recently purchased the DVD set “Liberty’s Kids” for my daughter. It is a cartoon that I can feel good about her watching because she is learning about the Revolutionary War. We used to watch it on the History Channel when she was younger but I don’t think they show it any longer. She also enjoys going on the Liberty’s Kids website. It is really cute that it has inspired her to start a family newspaper, “The Home Gazette”, and she wants to go visit some of the historical sights from the war for a future family vacation.

Before I wrap up my post, I wanted to thank you for hopping along with the Sentimental Sundays team last week. Stop by the Sentimental Sundays blog to see if you were one of the random winners.

Thank you for stopping by!

Supplies:

  • Stamps: For the Troops by Raindrop Echo Designs (past free set on the Sentimental Sundays blog)

Sentimental Sundays–Handmade Flowers

It’s Sunday so we have a new Sentimental Sundays challenge. This week, our challenge for you is to make handmade flowers to use on your creation. Don’t forget your sentiment!

There are so many wonderful tutorial on how to make your own flowers that I had a hard time deciding what to do. In the end I used the flower tutorial I found HERE to make my flowers. (If you are looking for some tutorials on making your own flowers, I keep links to some of my favorites on my Useful Information page. Feel free to check it out for ideas if you want.)

I printed a digital sentiment from Raindrop Echo Designs on a journal card and trimmed it to fit my card. I was happy to make a card where the doilies I have had sitting in my craft area for ages “fit”.

I was inspired by the Viva la Verve sketch for the first week of May. (You can find it here) I really liked this sketch and think I will be turning back to it again in the future.

Last week, to celebrate the first anniversary of Sentimental Sundays, we had a mini blog hop. Each DT member that participated was giving away a digital sentiment of the winner’s choice from Raindrop Echo Designs. The winner from my blog is Jennipher Lowery! Congratulations Jennipher! Please email us at sentimentalsundays@raindropecho.com with your choice of digital sentiment sent from Raindrop Echo Designs. Pleas put “Blog Hop Winner” in the “subject line”.

Well, that’s all for me today. Thank you for stopping by! Be sure to stop by the Sentimental Sundays blog to download your free sentiment from Ann Vento of Raindrop Echo Designs and see the beautiful handmade flowers from the rest of the DT. I hope you will join in our challenge too!

Don’t forget about that Sentimental Sundays is holding a DT call through May 23rd!

Bugaboo Fan of the Month

A couple of weeks ago I was asked if I would be interested in being the Bugaboo Fan of the month for May. Of course I had to jump on the chance. Bugaboo has such a great variety of images and the DT is so fun and talented. It was fun having my bio in the Bugaboo monthly newsletter. (Pssst…. If you don’t get the newsletter, you might want to sign up HERE. In each letter there are discounts, news tidbits and freebies.) And, I get to participate with the DT in the Catch the Bug challenge. This week’s challenge is “Anything Goes”.

I have needed several “Get Well” cards lately and used the opportunity to use Bugaboo’s Bug Jar – Bugs to make this card. I love the entire Bug Jar line at Bugaboo, but for some reason this one just makes me smile. I think it is the little bug peeking over the top of the jar.

When I started typing up my post, I noticed you can’t see the entire sentiment. The ticket says “Caught A Bug?”. I would take a new photo for my post, but I already mailed the card off. Sorry…

Did you notice the cute yo-yo flower on my card? I have to admit I didn’t make it. I won it in a package of blog candy goodies from my blogging buddy, Anita. I always admire them on her cards and was thinking about actually making some myself when I won some. Yippee!

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you have a fabulous week end! Don’t forget to stop by the Catch the Bug blog and enter the “Anything Goes” challenge.

Sentimental Sundays Cute & Cuddly

It's time for a new Sentimental Sundays challenge. This week our challenge is "Cute & Cuddly". Don't forget a sentiment! We also have a special guest designer joining our team this week. My 9-year old daughter has joined the fun. Please stop by her blog to check out her project (and leave a comment. She loves them!)

I made this flower using some old fabric and tulle that I found in the basement. The tulle is pink and was left over from a princess birthday party for my daughter from several years ago. I was inspired by this tutorial from Linda, the Funkie Junkie. The textured, brown piece was punched out of a Starbucks coffee sleeve. I love the texture of these things.

Thank you for stopping by! Don't forget to join in the Sentimental Sundays "Cute & Cuddly" challenge. The challenge is being sponsored by Heart Song Designs. Stop by the blog to see all the lovely creations from the DT and to get the challenge details.

Warm Fuzzies

I am soooo ready for spring. I thought we were on our way. The robins and blue birds are back. Some of the trees are starting to bud. And then the temperatures dropped and *gasp* we even got a little bit more snow. I know, I know.... I should be used to it living in Wisconsin but what can I say? I was really hoping that winter was gone for awhile.

To remind myself that spring is right around the corner, I decided to make a card using some spring colors and this adorable caterpillar. I usually am not a big fan of caterpillars, but there is just something about this one that I love.

This little guy is no longer available in the Whimsy Store but you can find lots of other delightful rubber and digi stamps there.

I hope you have a wonderful week end. Thank you for stopping by.

Whimsy Stamp Sneak Peek

Today I have a sneak peek of one of the new rubber stamps from Crissy Armstrong that will be released at Whimsy Stamps tomorrow! To celebrate the release, there will be a blog hop with prizes starting at the Whimsy Inspiration blog on Wednesday, March 16th, at noon EST. You won't want to miss it!

For my card today, I used Benny & Joon Have Cake by Crissy Armstrong. I just love this fawn and bunny, they remind me of Bambi and Thumper. It took me a few tries to get the image colored how I wanted. I'm still in the learning curve with Copic markers, but I am pretty happy with the way it turned out. (Did you see it was used for the blog hop button? I know it's not much but it made me really happy!)

.

Remember to stop by the Whimsy Inspiration blog tomorrow to get all the information and jump in on the blog hop. Whimsy will be releasing 4 rubber stamps from Crissy Armstrong, 2 rubber stamps from Meljen's Designs, 4 rubber stamps from Kenny K, 3 rubber stamp sets from Raindrop Echo Designs and 2 dies/sets from from Raindrop Echo Designs.

Thank you for stopping by!

Queen for the Day!

I made this card for another friend's birthday. I am proud to say that this one reached it's recipient on time too. (That's 2 if your keeping track.) I didn't mess up her birthday in my calendar, but she did have a party so I knew exactly when I needed it. :) (If you don't know what I am babbling on about, check my post from yesterday.)

I really enjoyed making this. First of all, I finally took the time to make a card just for fun, not for a DT. I have been wanting to use Princess Jennifer Latte from The Stamping Boutique and decided this was the perfect reason. She reminds me of my friend, and I don't mean that in a princess-y way, but in a stylish, mocha-sipping (or latte-sipping) way. I also wanted to make another joy fold card because I had fun making the first one.

.

I liberated some felt from my DD's bin of crafting goodies and created the rose out of it. I sprayed it with various shimmer mists until it was a more suitable color (meaning not the Peptobismo pink it originally was). I finished the inside with a sentiment from Create with TLC that says "I Declare You Queen for the Day".

That's all I have for today. Thank you for stopping by!

Supplies:
  • Stamps: Princess Jennifer Latte Happy Birthday To Me by The Stamping Boutique, Queen for a Day (inside sentiment)(freebie) by TLc Creations
  • Papers & CS: PaperTrey Dark Chocolate CS, Neenah Crest solar white CS, My Mind's Eye Pretty Please Spring Papers
  • Tools: Copic Markers, Martha Stewart leaf punch, Stampin' Up edge punch, Big Shot, Spellbinders nestabilities, Creative Memories circle punch
  • Embellishments: Misc. pink felt & rhinestones, Sakura stardust gelly roll pen
