Chocolate Chips

Happy Thursday!  We are on the back side of the week, sliding into the weekend!   Oh yeah!   Since it is Thursday, it is time for the new Meljen’s Designs challenge.  This week we have a super fun and easy challenge for you to try – ANYTHING GOES (with a Meljen’s Designs image).

I decided to use a long neglected image, Teddy Cookie.  I always though he was such a cutie but I just didn’t have time to use him.  Doesn’t he look happy with his cookie?  Now that I think of it, I probably look a bit like that if I have a good chocolate chip cookie too.

I hope you will join us in the ANYTHING GOES challenge at the Meljen’s Designs blog.  Don’t worry if you don’t have any Meljen’s Designs image, you can download a freebie in the store HERE.

Thank you for stopping by!  I hope you have a great day!

Supplies:

  • Stamps: Teddy Cookie (digital stamp) from Meljen’s Designs and Cookie Bug & Extras (digital stamp) from Tiddly Inks

I love the new images that Melissa from Meljen’s Designs is release this week. Check out this guy! He is so ready to catch a wave. I love his swim shorts.

I used the “no rectangle cards” challenge as an opportunity to make this reindeer into a fun gift tag. Here is a look at the back.

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you have a fabulous day and week end. We are heading to Chicago for a day for another fencing tournament. He’s Makin’ A List

I have another Christmas card using a Whimsy & Stars Studio digital image to share with you. I love this jolly looking Santa. He looks like he is pretty happy with all the names on the “Nice” list this year.

I only used part of the image for my card, so here is a look at the full image. (Of course when you purchase this image you will receive a high resolution image with out the watermark.)

If you are looking a head to Valentine’s Day, Mabelle will be putting Valentine themed digis into the store later this week. I got to take an early look at them and I warn you, they are cute!

Before I go, I thought I would share a picture of one of the glitter ornaments my daughter and I made. They were so easy and look gorgeous. It was fun making these and my daughter wants to make some more.

If you would like to give these a try, HERE is the tutorial from Greenbean’s Craftrole that we used.

I hope all your holiday preparations are progressing smoothly. I’m happy to say that my checklist of “Things To Do” is getting shorter. (Although I think I will still have the last minute rush to finish things up before Christmas.)

Hand Warmers for the Amber Ink Pinny Party

I’m coming in just under the wire for this week’s Amber Ink Pinny party. Every week, Amber is hosting a Pinny Party (you could also call it a challenge) to make something inspired by a photo you saw on Pinterest. Since I am a Pinterest addict and see lots of things I would like to try, this weekly party is perfect to give me the kick that I need to actually make some of the stuff I pin.

I decided to try my hand at making these cute pocket hand warmers. The photo shows 2 ivory hand warmers and how I packaged them up.

With my fleece hand warmers, I include these instructions. You can just see the corner under the hearts. I think I might print the rest on kraft.

Pocket Hand Warmers

Microwave for up to 25 seconds.

Slip into pockets, gloves or socks

for gentle warmth for up to an hour.

Reusable

This was a stretch for me. I can sew on card stock but NEVER on fabric of any kind. It took me a few trials to get a new needle install properly and work out the correct stitch length and tension.

Based on some internet research that I did, I read that brown rice retains the heat longer than white rice. Since all I had had my house was brown rice, it worked out perfectly. If you would like them to be scented, I read that you could add a few drops of an essential oil to the rice too. Since I didn’t have any on hand, mine have the plain ol’ rice scent.

I was inspired by this pin.

Once again, I am keeping this post short so that I can get it posted before the end of the party and get started putting up the Christmas tree.

If you are still looking for a Christmas gift for some one, check out Purse Bling. For a discount click on the icon in my right hand tool bar.

Have a great week!

P.S. Don’t forget to stop back tomorrow for the Amber Ink 2nd Annual Holiday blog hop. There are LOTS of prizes to win.

Supplies:

Hand Warmers

  • Fleece, heart template (used at 80%), card board (to make template), brown rice (supposed to keep the heat longer), Sewing machine

Gift Tags:

  • Stamps: None (printed using MS Word)
  • Inks: None
  • Tools: Big Shot, Papertrey Doily Details die & Holly Jolly die, Spellbinders Nestabilties
  • Papers: Papertrey kraft CS all the rest is misc. from my scrap bin

Dashing Through the Snow!

I broke out my Christmas songs playlist this week and have been listening to it every day. My daughter has also been practicing a couple Christmas songs the piano. She is going to play 2 songs during the Christmas program at school and is really excited about it.

This week Melissa is releasing a new set of digital images based on Christmas carols. I used “Jingle Bells” because the song has been running through my head. I also wanted to tie some bells on my card but decided to leave them off so that my card would still be easily mailed.

Here is a look at the complete new release which will be in the Meljen’s Designs store today.

The new challenge coordinates perfectly with the new digis. This week we are asking you to be inspired by a Christmas song. How fun is that? Check the Meljen’s Designs blog for the rules and to link up your project.

While you are at the Meljen’s Designs blog, you might want to check out the projects from our new DT members. This is their first project as teamies and I know they would love for you to stop by their blogs and leave a comment.

Pinterest Inspiration

I apologize in advance for my short post. I am running out of time to get my project for the Amber Inklings Pinny party posted. I need to get the post up and start on dinner, laundry, etc.

My daughter has found the internet. Now all around the PC, there are little scraps of paper with her passwords, etc. for the websites she likes to visit. After getting a little push from the Pinny party on the Amber Inklings blog, I decided to make her a little book to keep her password info and the phone numbers of her friends.

Inside I have sections for passwords, address/phone numbers, and note pages. Here is a link to the template I made for the inside pages. I warn you they are not great but they serve the purpose. Feel fee to download and use as you would like at http://www.mediafire.com/?66wg24i4j0649xn. I think I set it up so that it works. Let me know if you have a problem.

I was inspired by this address book

and this password book that pinned on Pinterest

This was the first time I used the Zutter Bind It All that I bought from a friend. Here is a link to the tutorial I used to figure out how to use it.

You still have a few hours to join the Pinny party. It looks like will be fun. Next week I will plan my time better so that I am not so rushed.

Thank you for stopping by!

Supplies:

  • Stamps: Computer Love (digital stamp) by Meljen’s Designs

  • Papers: Misc. cardboard (for the covers), Georgia Pacific CS, Close To My Heart Cherry-O paper pack, misc computer paper (for inside pages)3

There are some fun things going on over at the Whimsy & Stars Studio. Stop by the blog and join in the Gratitude blog hop. To play along, just link up your project using a Whimsy & Stars Studio image (it does not have to be Gratitude themed) and add your favorite gratitude quote or something you are grateful for and would like to share for your chance to win one of three winners of a $9.00 gift certificate to the Whimsy & Stars Studio store. Whimsy & Stars Studio and the Catered Crop Challenge

I have a rather lengthy post today but I have lots of information to share with you. All good stuff, I promise!

First I want to share another card that I made using the beautiful image, Felicity, from Whimsy & Stars Studio. (You can see my first card HERE.) I decided to try something a little different and not use the entire image. I know, a lot of you do this all the time, but it is new for me. I love the way it turned out. I’m going to try to remember to do this more often.

This is the entire image. Isn’t she sweet?

Mabelle, the creative genius behind Whimsy & Stars Studio, is giving a way a free image on Facebook to the fans of the Whimsy & Stars Studio page. This adorable image (below) will be available for free download on Facebook November 1 – 3rd (noon Eastern time) and then it will move to her Etsy shop. Hurry on over and download her now! Don’t forget to share your creations with us on the Whimsy & Stars Studio page.

There is also a sale going on at Whimsy Stars & Stamps! Buy 2 digis and get 1 free! This offer is valid until December 10, 2011.

I know this post has been a bit long but I have one more thing to share with you.

Two of my cards where picked as the inspiration for the current recipe challenge at the Catered Crop! I am excited to play along as a guest baker for the current challenge. How do you play along? (I copied the wording right from the Catered Crop blog instead of trying to put it into my own words.)

Playing with us at the Catered Crop "Follow-the-Recipe" linking party is easy as pumpkin pie. Here's how it works:

  1. Use any of the ingredients (themes, colors, techniques, etc.) in Cheryl's projects. You don't have to use all the ingredients or the same brands. Just pick a few ingredients and then add your own spices to cook up something uniquely yours.
  2. Add your project using the InLinkz (froggy) button below and join the party.
  3. Be sure to list your recipe or tell us what ingredient you used from the sample recipe.
  4. Don't forget to link back to this post or include the "I Followed the Recipe" button on your blog (see the side bar to the right).

Here's your FTR24 recipe – hold on to your hats because it's a fun one!

  • Stamps: girls, banners, farmer, crow
  • Colors: pink/burgundy, green; jewel tone fall colors
  • Theme: Christmas or Fall
  • Inks: Distress Ink, markers
  • Papers: stripes and polka dots, kraft
  • Tools: sewing machine, die cuts, circle punch
  • Embellishments: Fun Flock, seam binding, gemstones, glimmer mists, glitter, jingle bells, lace, buttons, burlap, twine, and cord

To make it even more fun, the Fawn Lawn is the sponsor for this recipe challenge! How can you pass up this challenge?

Thank you for sticking with me through this long post! I hope you have a fabulous day!

The Angel Felicity

I was able to finish a few more Christmas cards over the week end. This is the first one that I have to share with my blogging friends. This card uses the lovely image, Felicity, from Whimsy & Stars Studio. I made 2 cards using this same image and papers and they are so different. I’ll post the 2nd card later this week.

I am hoping that my doctor will release me to drive on Wednesday. Keep your fingers crossed for me! Also on Wednesday, we are going to a family Halloween party at my daughter’s school. It is always a lot of fun. There is a haunted trail behind the school in the trees, trick or treating down one of the wings of the school, the gym is filled with games and activities, and there are snacks in the cafeteria. It is always fun seeing how much fun the kids have. The kids have off school on Thursday and Friday.

Monster-ific Birthday

I love little monster that I used on my card for the new Meljen’s Designs sketch challenge. I used one of the new images called Fuzzer the Monster. I kept trying to color him to look fuzzy and just wasn’t getting the look I wanted. I finally had my “Aha!” moment and pulled out the Fun Flock. Still not satisfied, I colored some spare “spots” and embossed them to get the bumpy texture. Now I love how he turned out.

The new Meljen’s Designs challenge is a sketch designed by our teamie, Dianna. You can see the rest of the DT’s creations and link up your project on the Meljen’s Designs blog.

And here is a look at the images being released today. You can find these in the Meljen’s Designs store. These images are perfect for all those cards for boys!

Nuts!

A few weeks ago, Mabelle let the DT pick out a few digis from her store. I swear I wanted every digi there but I knew I had to have this squirrel. There is just something about this image that makes me smile. I wish the squirrels around my house were this cute instead of chewing holes in my bird feeders.

Mabelle just shared with us a peek of the Christmas digis that she will be putting on the store on October 18th. They are soooooo cute! Once again, I don’t know how to pick…. Make sure you stop back here and the Whimsy and Stars Studio blog to check them out on October 18th!
