On this card I decided to try something new. I left the image uncolored. I have seen some other people do this and I wanted to give it a try. What do you think? I keep going back and forth between liking it and thinking it looks unfinished. Right now I like it but by the time you read this I’m sure I’ll have changed my mind a couple of times.
I created a custom rub on to add the sentiment to the card. (I have a tutorial on this technique HERE.)
Since it is Thursday, it means there is a new challenge starting on the Meljen’s Design blog. Our new challenge to you is to use OVALS on your creation. Link up your entry at the Meljen’s Designs blog for your chance to win some Meljen’s digis.
Today is a bit sad for me. This is my last post as a member of the Meljen’s Designs team. Sadly, work and family commitments are cutting in to my crafting time so I needed to cut back. I know I will still be following the Meljen’s Design blog and the blog of the design team members.
While you are here, don’t forget to check out my paper give-away. You can see the details by clicking the picture below.

As soon as I saw Loo Loo Ballerina, I had to make a card with her. She looks so sweet and shy. As I mentioned previously, my daughter loves pigs. Her favorite stuffed animal is a pig who has been with her most of her life. (You can see a prior post about Piggy Boy HERE.) I’m stashing this card away to give to her on a day she needs a little boost or maybe to congratulate her on awards day at her school.
To celebrate spring and the new releases, Mabelle is also offering a special gift with $6 purchase. With every order of $6 or more from the Whimsy & Stars Studio shop, customers will receive the "Blooming Bouquet" digi stamp. Check all the details on the Whimsy & Stars Studio blog.

One of our favorite exhibits at the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center was about loggerhead turtles. When I got home and was looking through my Meljen’s Designs digital images, I saw this little sea turtle and had to use him. He inspired me to create a scrapbook page to help us remember the day.
Don’t forget to stop by the Meljen’s Designs blog on Thursday when the new challenge is revealed. It’s a good one!

Did you miss me over the past week? During my little blogging break, we headed to Virginia Beach for Spring Break. I thought I would share a few photos of what we were up to.
This is the photo from the balcony of our room. The absolute best part was that we could watch the dolphins swimming around every morning. That is a sight that I would never tire of.
We spent a day a Colonial Williamsburg. (Liz is dressed in a period costume.) There was so much to see. We spend an entire day there and I feel like we saw only about 1/3 of it. We will definitely head back there if we are in the area again.
We also visited the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center. Very fun!
Of course we spent some time on the beach. Liz was very disappointed that it was too cold to swim in the ocean when we were there. (It warmed up the day we were leaving.) Liz decided to put her feet in the ocean even though we told her it was cold and she promptly ran back out.
And this was the main event! Liz was fencing in the North American Youth Cup. She was the only one from her club that went. I’ll spare you the photo but there was over 30 fencing strips and an area for wheelchair fencing. It was HUGE! There were a lot of fabulous fencers including the Northwestern University Fencing team and London bound athletes such as Tim Morehouse. (The April 15th photo on his blog of the Olympic Men’s Saber team was taken here!)
Check out that lunge! Liz is on the right in this photo. She fenced really well but the competition was tough. She didn’t finish as well as she hoped but had a great time. We are so proud of her!
Lastly, before we left we rented one of these contraptions (a surrey?) and road up and down the boardwalk.
It was a really fun vacation but it feels really good to be home sleeping in my own bed.
I hope you have a great week!
Happy Easter! This is the last Easter project that I have to share with you this year. It uses part of the Dancing Egg & Chick image from Whimsy & Stars Studio. You can see the entire image further down in my post.
This tag started when I was sadly looking at all the little scraps that were the only remains of my favorite papers from the October Afternoon Sidewalk pad. I decided to stitch them together to make a tag. I actually stitched the scraps of DP to a scrap piece of white CS, which I glued to my tag, so that the back would remain nice.
Here is a look at the whole Dancing Egg & Chickie image.
Just a quick heads up - next week Mabelle will be giving away a free digital image on the Whimsy & Stars Studio Facebook page. Stop by and “like” her page now so that you don’t miss out!
You won’t see me around much this coming week. My daughter is on spring break and I am going to take the week off blogging, try to stay off the computer, and enjoy my time with my family. I’ll be back posting as usual the week of April 16th.
Thank you for stopping by!

My choice this week is a little bit different than usual. I didn’t pick this video because of the song (which is alright) but because of the actual video. It was created by cutting the scenes out of over 12,0000 pieces of paper. How cool is that? Since this is a paper crafting blog, I thought it was a goo fit.
If you would like to share a song/video, link up your blog post on Marcea’s blog.

Have a fabulous week end! Happy Easter!
I can’t believe Easter is already coming up. This year is already flying past. And I have so many Easter images to still play with!
This week I wanted to color this sweet image from Whimsy & Stars Studio. Isn’t she adorable?
I don’t remember if I mentioned it before, but when spraying items with glimmer mist I always put some flattened coffee filters in the box under them to catch the overspray. Letting the overspray just coat the box seems like such a waste. The coffee filters always looks so pretty and shimmery and I have big ideas on what I can do with them. (Of course up until now it was all ideas.) So for this card, I broke out my stash of shimmery coffee filters and finally used them. I die cut flowers out of my filters and then sprayed them with my Copic Airbrush system to make them the correct color. Although the photo doesn’t pick it up, IRL the flowers have a beautiful shimmer. See, I knew those coffee filters would come in handy some day. (I also sprayed the lace a bit to make it coordinate with the designer papers a little better.)
Thank you for stopping by! Have a great day!

Welcome to our blog hop to celebrate Meljen’s Designs 2nd anniversary! You should have just hopped over from Ceal’s blog. If not, you might want to start at the beginning of the hop on Audrey’s blog so that you don’t miss out on anything. Remember you have a chance to win a Meljen’s Designs digital image at each stop on the hop along with a grand prize of a bundle of Melissa’s favorite images which will go to one lucky hopper.
Can you believe grand opening of the Meljen’s Designs store and the kick off of the Meljen’s Designs first design team took place just two years ago? When we were asked to make a project using our favorite Meljen’s Designs image for the hop, I have to admit I was at a bit of a loss. Melissa has created so many fabulous images over the last couple of years that I cannot pick a single favorite. So, in honor of Meljen’s Designs anniversary or birthday, I decided to use Birthday Cake Mouse. I guess you could say he is my favorite for this week. Besides, what kind of birthday celebration is it with out cake and candles?
I am giving away this image, Birthday Cake Mouse to one lucky winner who leaves a comment on this post before the close of the blog hop on April 6th at 9 a.m. central time. If you would like a chance to win this cutie, be sure to leave your email address in your comment so that I have a way to contact you.
Here is a look at the uncolored image. Of course the winner will get the version with out the watermark.
Melissa is also having a BOGO (buy one get one free) sale on digital images in the shop for the entire month of April.
I was on the original Meljen’s Designs DT and participated in the first blog hop. For fun, I thought I would share the projects that I made for that hop 2 years ago. (You can see my original post HERE.) I think I have progressed a long way with my crafting.
Here is a list of all the stops on the hop in case you get lost along the way. Don’t forget that you can have a chance to win a Meljen’s Designs digital image on each stop of the hop. There will also be a GRAND PRIZE winner who will receive a bundle of Melissa’s favorite images, so be sure to comment at every stop.
