Christmas Wish List

Although last week was my final week on the August Guest Diva DT, when Korin asked if I would like to participate in the sneak peeks for Christmas, I just had to say "Yes". Sentimental Sundays #17 - Clean and Simple

I used an older sketch from Clean & Simple (sketch FTL104) to help get me started. Although I am rather pleased with the way it turned out, I still have a hard time leaving it be. I wanted to add more layers, stitching, or just something!

Happy Harvest

I made this card for the Scrapbooking & Crafting Friends DT using an image from Primsy Doodles on mygrafico.com. This scarecrow was just so cute that I had to pair him with these autumn colored papers and some raffia. I don't know why but I love raffia on autumn themed crafts.

My lay out is similar to one I saw and loved on the web last week. I wanted to give proper credit but now I can't find it! If you recognize this layout, let me know and I will give credit where it is due.

Happy Fall with Lindsay's Stamp Stuff

I don't know about you, but I am happy that it is time for the kiddos to head back to school and to get back in to the regular routine. Autumn is my favorite time of year. I love the fall colors, the gorgeous blue skies, the crisp air, and all the fun activities like apple picking, hay rides and bonfires. To celebrate all this good stuff, Lindsay is having an End of Summer sale Thursday through Saturday with 30% off everything in her mygrafico store.






To continue to show my love of the autumn season, I made an easel card this week using Sketchy Leaves along with the cracked glass and ruffled ribbon techniques.





After printing the leaf print on my card stock, I colored it using sponge daubers and my ink pads. It couldn't be easier and I think it looks pretty cool.




I apologize for the quality of my photos this week. I took these pretty late at night and was having some issues with my home-made light box.

Spring Chicken

Sentimental Sundays #17 - Words to Inspire

The new challenge this week at Sentimental Sundays is "Words to Inspire - Inspiring Words". I love this challenge and wanted to make sure that my sentiment was the focal point of my card.

I found directions on how to make this fun lace flower at Honeybeehill. It was a little difficult with the crocheted lace but I will definitely try it again using traditional lace or even ribbon. I found the button in my stash of buttons from my Grandmother's sewing supplies.

Spooky!

This week I wanted to get start on Halloween projects. I used the Creepy Crow digital stamp set from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff and broke out of my comfortable box a little bit. Can you see why? No DP! Amazing isn't it? (Okay, maybe not for most crafters, but it is for me.) I embossed the digital image after printing it on glossy paper and then used sponges and inks to create the background. (You can find out how to do it HERE. It is much easier than it sounds.)

Here is a look at the entire Creepy Crow set. Don't let the name fool you. I have seen several beautiful, non-Halloween projects made using this set.

Friends Forever

I love the challenges over at Clearly Inspired and try to participate each month. Yesterday I realized I was almost out of time for this month's challenge and I didn't have much time available to craft. I thought the perfect solution would be to use one of the precolored Bird on a Wire images from Doodle Pantry. Laurie had them available for free download a short time ago. But, when I went to print them out, I could not find them on my hard drive. I am having issues with my PC and I am not sure what happened to them. (Major bummer!)

I decided to stick with my precolored image idea and remembered that I had some from *Wink *Wink Ink. Thank goodness! I was able to print out this cute image and make the card in one evening (which is pretty fast for me!)

So what do you think? Although I love coloring images, I think I am going to keep these in mind for when I need something quick. Thank you for looking!

Sentimental Sundays #16 - Ribbons or Lace

The new Sentimental Sundays challenge, "Ribbon or Lace" is up and there are free sentiments from Raindrop Echo Designs for free download.

Feel free to use the digital sentiments provided, but you don't have to. You can choose to use any stamps you have in your stash, or stickers, rub ons, whatever you like! The only requirement is to follow the theme and use a sentiment on your new project. How easy is that? I hope you will join us.

I decided to alter a little notebook that I purchased from PaperTrey and to use both ribbons and lace on my project. I tried my hand at making crinkled ribbon. I purchased some Hug Snug seam binding on Etsy. I misted a piece of it lightly with rubbing alcohol. I then used 3 different copic markers in 3 different but similar colors to color the ribbon. It doesn't need to be perfect as long as it is mostly covered. I then put it in a plastic baggie and spritzed it a little more with the alcohol and smushed it all around until the ribbon was completely colored. (By using the 3 colors, it gives the ribbon a slightly varigated color that looks really pretty IRL.) I then spritz in some Pearl Glimmer Mist to give it some shimmer. I pushed all the ribbon down into a corner of the baggie, twisted it up, and let it sit over night. The next morning I dumped it out of the baggie onto a paper towel and let it finish drying. Ta da - custom crinkle ribbon. The hardest part for me is the planning so that I have drying time. If you don't use the Glimmer Mist, the alcohol inks dry pretty quickly.

To add a little extra ribbon to my project, I threaded some thin silk ribbon from PaperTrey through the buttons. So what do you think?

Make A Wish!

My blogging friend Maria from Crafty Creations was kind enough to send me some Penny Black and Stamping Bella images. I couldn't wait to use them but then life intervened and I was too busy to play with them. I got this one out and colored it while watching "So You Think You Can Dance" with my daughter on Thursday.

I wanted to practice with my Copics (practice, practice, practice, right?) and am happy with the way this image turned out. I didn't like the color of the floor so I went over it with Prismacolor pencils and OMS to change the color a bit.

The image is colored to go with some October Afternoon papers that I had sitting in my stash that I hadn't cut into yet. I like these colors and it makes a great boyish card to add to my stash.

Chocoholic with Sweet 'N Sassy

Okay.... I admit it.... I am a chocoholic... and I had to have the Chocoholic digital stamp set from Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps.

Sentimental Sundays - Snow Wonderful

The Sentimental Sundays challenge for this week is "anything goes". I decided to keep plugging away at making Christmas cards and used this snowman image from Prairie Fairy Designs.

I feel like my mojo has left me again. I was all set to send the day (Saturday) crafting and expected to finish several projects but I only finished 2 cards. I battled with my printer - for some reason today it has decided it likes to eat my paper and then get jammed up. I battle with my PC - I am unable to search my files to find what I want unless I remember the file name. After much research and lots of phone calls to people more tech savy then me, I found out it is a "known issue" with Windows 7 but unfortunately none of the available patches have helped me. I feel like I spent the day battling tech problems and it sucked my creativity dry. I hope to get these issues taken care of and feel more creative soon.

Welcome Drake!

One of my very good friends just became a grandma and I am so happy for her. The pictures she has shared of the baby are adorable.

I decided to make a card to send to congratulate her on becoming a grandmother. I didn't have any baby paper handy, so I used this boyish paper and think it works pretty well. I personalized the card by putting the baby's name (Drake) on the front.

Looking at the pictures, I now wish I did something to the lettering to make it stand out more. Since the card is already in the mail, it is too late to jazz it up now.

You probably noticed that I used On the Line by Lindsay's Stamp Stuff again. Not only is this one of my favorite, go-to stamp sets because it is so versatile, I was inspired by this card created by my fellow DT member, Karin.

On the Line is a great bargin at only $6 for 19 digital images.
