They Say It's Your Birthday

Hello!  This week my dad celebrated his 78th birthday.  When making a card for his special day, I decided to make two birthday cards at the same time - 1 for him and 1 for my stash.

I enjoyed coloring this cute penguin from 2 Cute Ink.   I used a few pieces of DP left over from a paper pad and some washi tape.  The sentiments is from a very old Stampin' Up set.

This is a photo of my dad my brother took earlier in the week.  3 days after finishing radiation therapy, he is up this ladder caulking a crack in the cross bar.   I swear he never sits still.

Thank you for stopping by!  I hope you have a fabulous day!

Shine Bright Sunflowers

Hello!  I hope your weekend is going well.  After the thunderstorms we had at the end of the week, the weather is gorgeous now.  After posting this I am heading outside to enjoy the weather.

I have mentioned before that sunflowers are my favorite flowers.  Last week, I was scrolling through all the digital stamps available on Etsy and found this image from Twinkle Lane Designs.  I bought it immediately and started coloring with Copic markers that evening.   I had to wait until today to have time to make cards with the images.

For the first card, I kept the design pretty simple.  I used a few scraps I had from a  Penny Black paper pad, stamped a sentiment, and added some buttons and bakers twine.

For the second card, I used left over pieces from a My Mind's eye paper pad.  A dry embossed panel added some texture.   I popped up parts of both sunflowers to add dimension.

Here is a closer look at the dimension.

Thank you for stopping by!  Stay safe and healthy!

We Mermaid To Craft!

Hello!  This month the challenge at the Papercraft Challenge is Ocean / Water.   Although I did not need to post a project as a DT member until the August challenge, I wanted to participate.

This is the first time I colored hair a non-natural color.   I have to say I really struggled.   After coloring the image about six times, I finally settled on the image I used below.  This was also the first time I colored a water background.  I added sequins, Nuvo drops, and used glitter pen as accents.

This digital image is from Star Jam Lines on Etsy.

Don't forget to link up your entry into the Ocean / Water challenge at the Papercraft Challenge.

Thank you for stopping by!   Stay safe and healthy!

Hydrangea Hello and an Announcement!

Lately I have found coloring larger floral images relaxing so I spent sometime last week coloring this hydrangea digital image from Nina B. Designs

I colored the same image 2 different ways.  I kept the layouts pretty simple because the image is so big and bold.  One layout uses designer papers and one does not.  I used the same sentiment on both cards.

Which card do you like best?

I'm also excited to announce that I have joined the Papercraft Business Design Team!  You can find the Papercraft Business website and Papercraft Business Challenge by clicking the hyperlinks.    I can't wait to share the fun with you.

Thank you for stopping by!  Have a great day and stay safe.

Sunny Day

The weather here today is ugly - rainy and very windy.  To help fight the gloom, I thought I would share cards I made with Sunny Day Wryn from Tiddly Inks.

I love Christy Croll's Wryn images.  She always reminds me of my daughter when she was younger.  I almost always color Wryn with blonde hair like my daughter.

For practice, I tried something different and colored Wryn with red hair.

Thank you for stopping by!  Stay dry and healthy!

Congratulations Graduate - To My Daughter a 2020 Grad

Today should have been my daughter's senior graduation ceremony.  Instead of graduation, they held the senior awards ceremony virtually.  It was nice but hopefully they will be able to hold a live graduation ceremony later in the summer.

Since she has been a bit down about missing prom, graduation, and all the senior fun this year, my husband and I wanted to do something a little special for her today.   While she was at work this morning, we decorated the dining area to surprise her.  We also asked friends and family for cards so that she would remember there are people who love her and are proud of her.  She was so surprised and happy!

Of course I couldn't let this opportunity pass without making her a special card.  I colored the digital image Graduating Wryn by Tiddly Inks with Copic markers.  I love Wryn and she has always reminded me of my daughter so she was the perfect image for my card.

I paired Wryn with  Echo Park Times and Seasons paper along with some black and white cardstock from my stash and finished it off with a sentiment from Papertrey Ink Mega Mixed Messages

Here is a peek at the decorations.

I am so proud of my daughter.  She graduated Magna Cum Laude.  She is enrolled at the University Wisconsin at Green Bay in the Human Biology program and hopes to be a trauma surgeon one day.    This young lady is not taking a break over summer.  She starts a summer program tomorrow at a local technical college to become an EMT so she can start gaining experience right away.

Thank you for stopping by!  Congratulations to all 2020 graduates - may you do great things and change the world!

Cheryl

Happy Father's Day

Hello!  I'm popping in quick today to share a Father's Day card I made over the weekend.  I made this card for my dad using this hand drawn deer digital stamp from Divine Ink Creations on Etsy.  I added the sentiment.

I inked a piece of water color paper from Stampin' Up and then lined up in my printer to add the image and sentiment.  I used green and black card stock that I had handy and added some striped washi tape for interest.

Overall this card is more CAS than my usual style and I'm not sure I like it.  I guess it is good to go outside your comfort zone sometimes.

I hope you have a great day! Stay safe!

Cheryl
