Hoppy Birthday

Earlier this week, my dad celebrated his 70th birthday.   I used one of my new Purple Onion Designs stamps to make him a birthday card.

2012-07-19 Freckles WM
I’ve been wanting to get my hands on some of the Purple Onion Designs stamps as soon as I started seeing Freckles, Poppy and Rosie show up on projects around blog-land.  I ordered a couple and was really happy to get the chance to ink up Freckles.  Who knew a frog could be so cute?
I wish I could say that I used up some scraps making this card, but I actually cut these paper strips out of a brand new paper pad.   Oh well,  I’ll have to try to use this design again and use up some actual scraps.  I also used a couple of pieced of wood grain washi tape because, well, I love it and wanted to use it.

I did get my inspiration for my card from this card I saw on Pinterest by Lisa Arana.

I also thought I would share a song that I found on songza.com this week.   As usual, when I find songs I like, there is not an official video, but you can hear the song below.  Let me know what you think.

Party Time

Happy Tuesday!  Today is a fun one.  Mabelle, from Whimsy & Stars Studio, is releasing two new digital images.    For my project, I decided to use the new image, Cheery Wishes.   I just love the sweet bears that Mabelle draws.

I decided to play with some of my washi tapes again.   No DP was harmed in the making of this card.    I used the tape on the white CS to create the background and also pieced it on the party hat and spots on the cake.

Here is a look at both of the new images that you can now find in the Whimsy & Stars Studio shop.

Thank you for stopping by!  Have a fabulous day!

Another Patriotic Card

Is it too late to post another patriotic card?  I hope not because I have one more.

It was too hot on July 4th to spend much time outside so I was able to sneak off to my craft room for a little bit.   Since I was in a patriotic mood, I decided to make one  more  quick, patriotic card.

2012-07-10 WSS Amelie card WM

I used Washi tape on this card.   I am really starting to love Washi tape and think I’m going to have to add it to my list of favorite things.   It is so fun and easy to use and adds a pop of color and pattern to your project.  I have to admit, I’ve been a bit of a hoarder so now I am making an effort to actually use the Washi tape, not just admire it in the jar.

Here is pic of my jar of Washi tape.  (I took it with my phone because I was too lazy to run up stairs for my camera.)

Before I go, I wanted to show you the entire Amelie image because I used just a portion of her on my project.  Isn’t she sweet?

Thank you for stopping by!  I hope you have a wonderful day!

Walk on the Ocean

Remember that song from Toad the Wet Sprocket?  I use to love it.  Anyhow, that song was running through my head when I was working on this scrapbook page.  I wanted to scrap these pictures from our trip from Virginia Beach this spring.   Liz wanted to swim in the ocean SO BAD, but it was too cold.  You can see her pouty face in the bigger pic because I wouldn’t let her put on her swim suit.  (I’m such a meanie!)  The round pic is her running out of the ocean after I gave in and said she could put her feet in.

Rosie Posie

Happy Fourth of July to my American friends!

I’m a day late with my post.  I think I have mentioned before that my life has gotten crazy busy lately.  Anyhow, I completely forgot to type up my post.  I did my project, took the pictures, had my list of supplies ready, but forgot the rest.   Doh!  So, I hope my project was worth the wait.

For my project this week, I used the adorable Rosie Posie digital stamp from Whimsy & Stars Studio.    She is just so sweet!   I had fun popping up the flower on her hat and adding some liquid pearls for some texture and interest.

Here is a closer look at Rosie.  I actually broke out my Stickles.  I usually forget to use them but thought they would be perfect on her tutu.

So what’s going on to keep me so busy lately?  Besides my job, I have lots of family stuff that I am trying to take care of.  The tendonitis in my daughter’s Achilles heel has not gotten better with rest so she is starting PT.    She also needs to sit out of summer camp and if we do anything with a lot of walking, she needs to be in a wheel chair to give the tendon time to heal.   So I have busily trying to come up with the “B” plan for her during the day while I am at work.

My poor dog, Summer, has had another flair up of her vestibular disease.   I feel so bad for her.  Even though she is dizzy, she is determined to do everything that she usually does, which means she falls down a lot.  (Or I fall down trying to help her up and down the stairs and keep her on her feet.)

I’m also planning a party for my dad’s 70th birthday.  (You can see a picture that is only a couple years old of him here.)(And yes, I’m ashamed to admit he probably still can beat me in a foot race…)

So these things, along with life in general, have been keeping me out of my craft room and off my computer as much as usual.   Don’t worry, I’ll be back.  (In my head that is in my best Arnold voice.)  With a little luck, I’ll be in there busily crafting away as you are reading my post.

Thank you for stopping by!  Have a great day!
