Music Saves My Soul Saturday #7

I hope you all don't run away screaming when you play this song. I have this post scheduled and about the time it posts I will be heading to the airport to fly home from Disney World. Since my daughter LOVES this song and I am sure we will have road this ride several times over the past week, I thought I would share it with you. My song this week for Marcea's Music Saves My Soul Saturday is a techno version of "It's A Small World".

Meljens Designs - Challenge #31 - Use 2 Images

We have a great challenge this week on the Meljen's Designs blog. We are challenging you to use 2 images on your project.

I used Happy Holiday Wreath from the new images released yesterday and the holly is from the Season's Greetings freebie from Monday.

When I asked my husband his opinion of the card he said, "Its good but it would be cooler if that was Christmas music." Yep, I guess he didn't look too closely. I was pretty excited that I actually had some Christmas sheet music on hand.

I hope you will join us this week at the Meljens Designs challenge and show us your projects using 2 images.

Thank you for stopping by!

Supplies:

  • Images: Happy Holiday Wreath by Meljen's Designs (available on Whimsy Stamps), Seasons Greetings (Freebie) by Meljen's Designs (available on the Meljen's Blog)
  • Inks: None
  • Papers & CS: Mistletoe from Close To My Heart, Chocolate CS from PaperTrey, White CS from Georgia Pacific, misc. sheet music
  • Tools: Copic Markers

Holiday Wishes with Lindsay's Stamp Stuff

Here I am working on my Christmas card stash again. The weather is turning cool, Christmas is creeping closer and I need LOTS more Christmas cards.

I have to admit that I really like this one. I paper pieced the poinsettia from Lindsay's Nature's Christmas set. I did it in 4 layers (1 green for leaves, 2 red for large petals, 1 red for small petals) but you could do it in less. I used my stylus on the back of the leaves to give them some shape and dimension. I used my Copic markers to darken the shading a bit. Lastly, my clear glitter pen was used on the edges and lines for a little sparkle. I kept the lay out simple so as not to detract from this gorgeous image.

Please visit the rest of the DT to see their creations this week and pop over to Lindsay's blog for her weekly freebie.

Hurray! The day is finally here for me to post my first KLM Designs project. I have been sitting on this news for ages and it was so hard not to blab it. This week the DT will start posting sneak peeks of the new images for November.

Sentimental Sundays #26 - Distressing

Wow! Can you believe we are already on the 26th Sentimental Sundays challenge? We are half way through our first year. Time is really flying by. So, with out further chit chat, the new Sentimental Sundays challenge for this week is "Distressing".

I made this card for a friend's recent birthday. Daisy Doodles came out with this set shortly before his birthday and I had to get it. My friend is a BIG VW bug fan. Isn't this just the cutest image? I want to cruise around in this car. Okay may be not today, the end of October, but definitely when the weather is great.

I distressed the edges of my DP with ink and using my scissors and CTMH edge distressing tool. I typed up the sentiment in Word on my computer.

I hope you will share your "distressing" projects with us at Sentimental Sundays. Be sure to stop by and download this week's free sentiments from Ann Vento of Raindrop Echo Designs.

Thank you for looking!

Music Saves My Soul Saturday #6

I decided to go a little rockabilly this week for Marcea's Music Saves My Soul Saturday challenge. This is my favorite song from Reverend Horton Heat and it has been going through my head all week.

Martini time (vodka ice shaker!),
Martini time (olive or lime!),
Martini time (gotta have glasses!),
Make it with a layer of ice this time

Enjoy!

Meljen's Designs - Bundle of Joy

One of my husband's co-workers recently had a baby girl and he asked me to make a baby card. Of course, that meant I had to make a run to Hobby Lobby for some paper and then I needed some new Copic makers to coordinate. See how that works? I hope he needs another card soon. ;)

Please stop by the Meljen's Designs blog to see the new release (it is totally cute) and the DT inspiration pieces for the new challenge. Since the new challenge is "Anything Goes", you have no excuse not to join in for your chance to win some Meljen's Designs digital images. *wink*

Lindsay's Stamp Stuff - Leaf Prints Sympathy

Let me get the exciting news out of the way first. Mygrafico is having 40% off sale for today only. That includes all the product in the Lindsay's Stamp Stuff store on mygrafico. Now is the time to get the set you have been eyeing.
.
'
I recently had the need for another sympathy card. I decided to use Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Leaf Prints to keep it seasonal.

Although it looks black in the photo, the matting with the edge punch is chocolate brown. I used cork squares to add some interest and texture. The leaves were printed in brown and colored using Q-tips with ink pads.

Please stop by the rest of the DT to see what kind of goodies they have created this week. Lindsay will have a freebie for you on her blog. Be sure to stop at the store to check out all the new, fabby sets that are for sale.

Sentimental Sundays Challenge #25

The new Sentimental Sundays challenge is black, white & another color of your choice. Since my daughter was invited to a birthday party for a friend that loves cats, I decided to make a kitty card and matching gift bag.

Sorry the 2nd picture looks a little strange. The gift bag did not fit in my light box and I was in a hurry to get the photo taken so we could leave for the party.

The kitty image is from Pink Cat Studios and is already colored black so you only need to color the bird and the flower. I used digital paper purchased from Sweet Shoppe Designs. I love the black and white design. For other projects I have printed it on colored cardstock for instant DP that perfectly matches my CS. The gift bag is a cheap bag ($0.49 from Target). I like to keep several of these plain bags around to alter or to have on hand so I don' t need to run to Walgreens at the last minute for a bag. (Not that I procrastinate or anything...)

I hope you will join the Sentimental Sundays "Black, White & Another color" challenge this week. You are free to create any kind of project and use any supplies as long as it is a new project and it displays a sentiment.

Stop by the Sentimental Sundays blog to download the free sentiment set from Ann Vento of Raindrop Echo Designs.

While you are out surfing the web today, you might want to stop by Whimsy Stamps to check out the new digi's available from Raindrop Echo Designs. Ann has created some really great new autumn & Halloween sentiments and some new digis designed to work with Spellbinders Nestabilities. They are really cool.

Have a great day! Thank you for looking!

Supplies:

  • Stamps: Kitty & Sweet Bird from Pink Cat Studios, Flowers with Love from Annabelle Stamps
  • Papers & CS: Georgia Pacific CS, the Paper Studios black CS, misc pink CS, Out on the Town Again digital paper by Penny Springmann (Sweet Shoppe Designs)
  • Inks: Momento black
  • Tools: Copic markers, Fiskars edge punch

Music Saves My Soul #5

Today I want to share a song by one of my favorite artists, Neko Case. When my brother first introduced me to her music, I was not impressed. It was too country sounding for me. But, after giving her another listen or two, she became one of my favorites. There is just something about her voice and quirky lyrics that makes me listen to her albums over and over again. Her "Blacklisted" album would be another of my "desert island" discs.

Although "Hold On, Hold On" is not my favorite song, it is a good one. I had a hard time finding a video to embed that had decent sound quality. It seems I keep picking songs that don't have slick, commercial videos. I hope you enjoy it any how. Have a great week end!

To join in and share a song, link up your blog post on Marcea's blog.

Meljen's Designs - Tag challenge

The new challenge this week on the Meljen's Designs blog is tags. Kind of funny isn't it? I was just mentioning how tags imtimidate me and I have another DT project using tags. This time I decided to go with it. I used one of the images just released yesterday to create a tag to add to an altered container of candy corn to give to my daughter's teacher for Halloween.

This is my tag! Isn't this little witch cute! I was even able to recycle by adding some cardboard from a box that was in the basement.

Here are a few more pictures of my project. I decorated the top of the jar using Meljen's Stitched Fan Flower which was a freebie on the blog a few weeks back.

Thank you for looking! I hope you will join in the Meljen's Designs tag challenge.

Supplies:

  • Images: Cutie Sitter Witch & Stitched Fan Flower (freebie) by Meljen's Designs and Halloween Ticket Sentiments by Raindrop Echo Designs (both artists are available on Whimsy stamps)

Hang in There! with Lindsay's Stamp Stuff

Since October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I wanted to created a card to help support awareness. I think this might be the most pink card I have ever created.

**Edit: I just found out about the card drive for Elise of Paper Love Affair who has been recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Cheryl from My Cardmaking Haven has collected some prizes for one lucky person. For more info on this card drive and Elise's story, please see My Cardmaking Heaven. I am going to sent this card to Elise to let her know she has lots of blogging friends that support & pray for her.**

As you probably know, I just love Lindsay's "On the Line" digital stamp set. It is so versatile! I have used this set to make baby cards, anniversary cards, friendship cards, birthday cards, and now, an awareness card. Here is a closer look at the set.

And, no trick, I have a treat for you! Lindsay is having a sale on everything in her mygrafico shop. You can get this set (19 images!) for $4.20. All her digi stamps sets and svg files are included in the sale. Go get yourself a little treat.

Please stop by the rest of the DT to see what they created. Check out Lindsay's blog to download her weekly freebie.

Sentimental Sundays Challenge #24 - Tags

The Sentimental Sundays challenge this week is tags. I don't know why, but I don't like making tags. They are so little but some how they intimidate me. And (don't tell anyone) I don't make my own gift tags. I use store bought ones. *gasp* I know, I know... So when I read the challenge this week it took me a while to decide what to do.

Do you see my tag? It's there. Here is a better look.

What do you think? I really wanted to use this cute Snow Girl image that I won from Paper Cupcakes a while ago. (And it allowed me to get 1 more Christmas card completed!) I kind of like the tag now. Some one can keep it with the card or they can pull it out and use it as a gift tag or a book mark. Multi- purpose - imagine that.

I hope you will join us in the Sentimental Sundays Tag challenge. You can use any products you would like as long as it is new, fits the theme, and has a sentiment. While you are at the Sentimental Sundays blog, you can download the free sentiments provided by Ann Vento of Raindrop Echo Designs. (Check out her new stamps for sale at Whimsy Stamps. Too cute!)

Don't forget there is a DT call going on at Sentimental Sundays. You have until 10-18-10 to enter.

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you enjoy the rest of the week end.

Supplies:

  • Stamps: Snow Girl digital stamp from Paper Cupcakes, Made of Snow from Papertrey Ink
  • Papers & CS: October Afternoon Very Merry Sing the Carols & Fill the Stockings DP, Papertrey chocolate & white CS, Georgia Pacific CS
  • Inks: Close To My Heart chocolate
  • Tools: Big Shot, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Zip Dry Glue, Copic Markers, Cropadile

Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Christmas Cardinal

Christmas is less than 80 days away! Although I have a few Christmas cards made, I am starting to feel the pressure to beef up my stock. I used my Lindsay's Stamp Stuff post this week as a chance to make another Christmas card. It also gave me a chance to use her new digital release Nature's Christmas.

Here is a peak at the entire set.

Lindsay is also helping to sponsor the Caring Hearts Card Drive. They are collecting Thanksgiving and Christmas cards to be sent to elderly residents of nursing homes and care centers. The drive is going on until 11-15-10 and there are several fabulous prizes. Click on the picture below for more information.

Sentimental Sunday's Challenge #23 - Autumn or Fall

I'm going to keep this post short. I had my card ready early (for a change) and thought I was good to go. I forgot I had only imported the picture and typed out the supplies used for this project. Now I need to get ready to go (date night with DH) and I am trying to get this typed up quickly. Good thing I usually am not the chatty type any way...

The theme this week at Sentimental Sundays is Autumn or Fall. Perfect timing. It is getting chilly here in Wisconsin this week and some of the leaves are starting to turn colors. The kids have a school field trip on Friday to the pumpkin farm. Fall is most definitely in the air.

This sweet image was a freebie from Tiddly Inks. I'm not sure if you can still get him free, but you might want to go check out her store to see the other adorable images and papers available.

I am going to run off now. I have find some nice clothes to wear to dinner. I am trying to decide if I can still wear cute, black capris with a long sleeved top. I don't want to break out the long pants & jeans yet.

Enjoy your week. Make sure you stop by the Sentimental Sundays blog. As you know, Ann always has a freebie posted. This week, she made sentiments out of some of my favorite quotes so I am especially excited. Go get 'em! While you are there, join our challenge with your fall/autumn project with a sentiment.

**EDIT - Sentimental Sundays is holding a DT call. If this seems like something that would interest you, go check out the details on the Sentimenal Sundays blog. **

Thank you for stopping by!

Music Saves My Soul Saturday #3

I had a hard time picking a song this week so I went with a song off of one of my all time favorite albums. "Nothing But Water" by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals would be one of my "desert island" discs. You know, if you were going to a desert island and could only bring 5 albums/discs, what would they be? (No greatest hits or compilations) You may have seen Grace and crew on TV recently. They are making the rounds for their new album "Grace Potter & the Nocturnals". I have to admit that the new album, in my opinion, is not as good as "Nothing but Water" or "This is Somewhere". They have polished up Grace and the band and they have lost that special something that made me love the first 2 albums.

I hope you enjoy "Treat Me Right". Sorry, this is the best quality video I could find.

If you enjoy music, join Marcea's Music Saves My Soul challenge each week.

Meljen's Designs Blog Hop

Hurray! I can finally announce that I rejoined the Meljen's Designs DT. It has been hard to keep the secret until today. I missed the ladies on the team and I still love working with Melissa's sweet images so I jumped back on the team. Thank you to Melissa and Nicole for taking me back. The team has been expanded by 7 designers to give you plenty of Meljen's Designs eye candy to inspire you.

To celebrate the announcement of the new and expanded team of designers, we are having a blog hop. You should have arrived here from Callie's blog. If not, you will want to start hopping at the beginning at the Meljen's Designs blog. Leave some love (in the form of comments) on each designers blog to be eligble for the prize of 4 Meljen's Designs images from the store. *Edited - Melissa decided to give away some additional prizes. Check out the Meljen's blog at the end of the hop for the details. ** I will have a complete list of the designers in the hop at the end of my post to help you if you get lost along the way. The hop ends on Monday, October 4th at 7:00 a.m.(Pacific time).

Now that you have all the blog hop details, I want to share my project.

Isn't this apron just the cutest? Ever since I saw it I knew I wanted to use this DP and paper piece it. The rest of the card details just fell into place. These papers from October Afternoon just look so warm and homey that I thought they would go perfectly with the image. I feel like I am at Grandma's house.

Before you continue on the hop, I have a few more things to share with you. Every Thurdsay, you can see the new release and the new challenge on the Meljen's Design blog. We would love for you to join us each week in the challenge. Although a Meljen's Designs image is not necesary, we would love to see your creations using them. Melissa also offers a freebie each Monday on the Meljen's Designs blog. You can purchase Meljen's Designs images at the Whimsy Stamps Store.

Your next stop on the hop is Dee. I know she has something wonderful for you. Remember to leave a comment on each designer's blog for your chance at the prize of 4 Meljen's Designs images from the store. Below is a complete blog hop list.
