Gliding by with Meljen's Designs

Here it is, my first Christmas card of 2010! One down and way too many to go. I am feeling a bit envious of the people that have been working on Christmas cards all along.

I just got this this adorable, little ice skating mouse from Meljen's Designs and could not wait to use her. She reminds me of how quiet, relaxing, and fun it was skating on my uncle's pond while I was growing up.

The glitter on the embossed panel behind her is white. I think it is picking up the pink color from my shirt when I took the photo. I tried different angles but it still shows up a pink in the photo.

You can purchase all Meljen's Designs images now at Whimsy Stamps.

Silver & Gold Challenge with Meljen's Designs

I made this card for Memorial Day which is quickly approaching. My original intent was to use this card to write a thank you note to our troops and post it to them through Operation Write Home. But then I spaced out and used glitter on the card which is not allowed for OWH cards (due to safety concerns). Since we usually have troops home on leave in our local Memorial Day parade, I will try to remember to bring it along and hand deliver to some one.

The new challenge on the Meljen's Designs Inspiration & Challenge blog is "Silver & Gold". I have silver brads and used a gold glitter pen on the little stars. This dove is Stars & Stripes Dove from the new Meljen's Release, In Loving Memory. These images can be purchased individually or in the set at a discounted price in the Meljen's Designs digishop. Remember you also have the option to create your own pack of 2 or 5 of your favorite images to get a discounted price. Here is a peak at the In Loving Memory release.

Melissa is also releasing a few other individual stamps today. (You can also create your own pack of 2 or 5 for a savings.)

To help keep a little silver and gold in your pocket, here is a coupon you can use on Meljen's Designs images over the Memorial Day holiday.

I hope you will join us for this week's Silver & Gold challenge. You do not have to use a Meljen's Designs image, but we would love to see you use one if you can. You can link up your card and see the DT inspiration pieces HERE.

Monday with Lindsay - All You Need Is Love

Updated: This card was featured on SNR Card Universe and published in the January 2010 edition of Scrapbook News & Reviews

All you need is love.... Love is all you need...

Ever since I saw Lindsay's new set "Love Grows Here", I have had this song in my head and the idea for this card. Take a look at how cute this set is. I especially love this little bird.

I like him (her?) so much that I used him twice on my card. I printed both birds at 15% of size using MS Word. I flipped the second bird horizontally so that she was facing the other way. I love that you can do that so easily with digi stamps. I paper pieced the birds' bodies and colored the beaks, legs, and the heart using markers. (I cut the card from the 2nd bird's beak before adhering.)
The sentiment was also printed using MS Word. I printed out the letters I needed with plenty of spacing in between. I sponged the page with Distress Ink in Tea Dye and then cut the letters out and attached them to the heart.

The heart was cut using the Wild Card Cricut cartridge at 4". I attached to the 5X5 card base. I then cut the heart shaped liner at 3-3/4" and sponged the edges. I have not put a sentiment on the inside yet because I am not sure who I will give it to.

I ended up going back and adding the faux stitching. You see it on the first picture of the card but I forgot to take another picture showing the inside before my hubby left with the camera. (Note to self: If you want to do faux stitching, get it done before adhering everything together. Much easier that way.)

Fa La La La

Updated: This card was featured on SNR Universe and published in the January 2010 edition of Scrapbook News & Reviews

Happy Saturday! I spent the day with my daughter and we had a great time. (Except she wanted to listen to Christmas songs all day.) We actually got to see some of Santa's reindeer. Check out Vixen. Isn't she cute? We got to pet her a little bit. I could not believe how soft she was.
All the Christmas songs must have sunk in because "Deck the Halls" has been running through my head endlessly this evening. Although I started this card yesterday, I now knew how I wanted to finish it up. I used
Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge #107 (WSC107) and the Dare U 2 Digistamp Challenge #26 to use glitter. I also used a faux stitching digital stamp (details below) as a guide for my paper piercer and then used my Chocolate Chip SU marker for the stitching. This is the for Little C's Stamp N' Scrap Hawaii challenge to use stitching (faux stitching is okay). I used my Cricut to cut several of the snowflakes out of scraps of the kraft cs and then used my Xyron to stick them together. I do not have any chipboard on hand and wanted to make it a little thicker.

The beautiful ornaments are from
Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Christmas Potpourri Digital Stamp Set. These stamps are available for immediate download on MyGraphico or in her Shop Handmade store where the every day special is spend $5 and get a free digital stamp.
