Autumn Thank You

** I have 2 posts today, please click here to see my Paper and Such challenge post **

It is getting to be my favorite season – autumn!   I know it might be  a little early for some but I really felt like digging into my fall themed images and papers this weekend.  I coupled this fabulous, autumn themed image with some dp scraps that I still have stashed away from last year to make a simple thank you card.

2012-08-14 Wss Thank you

I have my new laptop set up and am only missing my Photoshop soft ware.  Since I have heard some great reviews on Light Room, I decided to give it a try.   I’m not sure what I think of it yet.  I was so used to editing my photos in Photoshop I could have almost done it with my eyes closed.   If you use Light Room, let me know what you think and what your favorite presets are.

We had a wonderful experience over the weekend.  We attended Field of Honor:  A Salute to the Greatest Generation.    When WWII vets are passing away at a rate of 900 per day, it was a wonderful opportunity to pay tribute to their greatest accomplishment,  the allied victory in WWII.    As the main event, the movie “Honor Flight” was premiered.  If you get a chance to see it where ever you live, I would say it is worth the time and price.   I have to admit that I had tears in my eyes a few times during the evening.

It was incredibly moving to see such a large gathering of so many veterans.   Although the focus was  on WWII vets, there were also vets from Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, etc. and current service members.    Below you can see a picture of my daughter proudly wearing the jacket that my husband has from his time spent in the US Navy.

The grand finale of the evening was to find out that we helped set a new record in the Guinness Book of World Records.  We were part of the largest movie premier with over 28,000 people in attendance.    Here a snippet of the crowd.  (Yes, we were in the nose bleed seats.)

If you are interested, you can see more about the movie or how you can help out  at Honor Flights.    Although the movie focuses on the Wisconsin, there are Honor Flight chapters across the country.

Thank you for stopping by!  Have a great day!

We had the honor of helping send off and serve breakfast to 3 bus loads of Veterans and nurses a couple months ago for an Honor Flight. It was my first one and It was amazing!! My friend was one of the chaparones for it too, he had such a great time with his WWII Vet and seeing the sights in DC. It was all just wonderful....what you guys did looks pretty awesome too!

Berry the Snowman

Okay, Berry the Snowman doesn’t have the same ring as Frosty, but I think his cuteness totally makes up for it.  This is another one of the images that I colored during my crafting day with a friend before Thanksgiving.  I’m happy I had the chance to get him on a card.    Have a great week!  Thank you for stopping by!Supplies:Stamps:  Berry from Stacy Yacula Studio at Purple Onion DesignsInks:  Memento Tuxedo Black Papers:  Neenah Classic Craft Solar White CS, Papertrey kraft CS, Carta Bella Winter Fun paper pad 6x6 Tools:  Sewing machine, Big Shot, Papertrey Doily details die, Stampin’ Up corner punch, Copic markers Embellishments:  May Arts Burlap twine, Tattered Angels glimmer mist, button Challenges:Clear It Out 2W, 3E, Must use stash item - Challenge: Anything Goes Stash Item:Anything Goes (Twine, button, die cut – had it cut and sitting in a bin since last Xmas)Loves Rubber Stamps W - #82 Anything Goes ChristmasOldie But A Goodie Challenge 2W, must use something at least 6mts ol…

Pumpkin Spice - Birthday Wishes

While scrolling through the Pumpkin Spice shop, I noticed the great prices on the Christmas/Winter themed paper pads.    The fun colors and patterns on so many of the pages could be used for just about anything.   So I pulled out the “12 Days of Christmas” paper pad from My Mind’s Eye and set to work trying to make some cards.Since I never have enough birthday cards on hand, I thought that was what I would try first.  I started by punching out butterflies from several of the many patterns in the pad.    From there, I moved them around my card until I had an arrangement that I liked, added some stitching and stickers, and, “Ta Da!”, a birthday card! Since I also need a congratulations card for a friend , I thought I would see what I could make with the same paper pad.   I really love how this card turned out.(In real life, the glitter on the “U” is more similar to the aqua color in the paper.)So what do you think?   You can make some fabulous, non-holiday cards using holiday themed pap…

Catered Crop–Seeing Red

Hello!  I’m back. I’m sorry I have been gone so long.  Things have been so hectic that I haven’t had the chance to spend time in my craft room for months.  I was able to sneak away to my craft room for a while this weekend and hope to make it a regular event.I decided to use the Catered Crop’s Seeing Red recipe swap and take the opportunity to cook up some note cards to give to my mother in-law.  Although I only had time to make 4 cards, it was great to spend time in my craft room again. As always, Linda cooked up a fabulous Pinterest board to help get our creative mojo flowing.   Click on the photo below to go to her Seeing Red inspiration board.Don’t forget to link up your Seeing Red creations at the Catered Crop.Thank you for stopping by!Supplies:Stamps:  Fancy Flourishes & Little Labels from Papertrey Ink Inks:  Close To My Heart Hollyhock & Papertrey Ink Kraft inks Papers:  Papertrey white CS, My Mind’s Eye Miss Caroline Dolled Up 6x6 paper pad, misc. scrap red CS, Starbuc…
