Mother's Day with Sentimental Sundays

If you are my mother in-law, Pat, please close this.......

No peeking....

Waiting....

Tapping fingers....

Okay, here we go.

I created this card for Mother's Day and for Sentimental Sunday's second challenge "For that Someone Special". I am so blessed to live near my mother in law. She is a wonderful lady, active in the community, at the senior center, her church, and with her Red Hat ladies. She is smart and fun. She loves spending time with my daughter and often invites her over for an overnight stay (much to my husband's and my joy and appreciation.) I wanted to make sure I had a special card for her for Mother's Day.
.
I found this quote on The Quote Garden and printed it using MS Word. In case you have problems reading it in the photo, it says "Being a full-time mother is one of the highest salaried jobs...since the payment is pure love." I wonder if the person was referring to SAHM's? I think all mom's are full-time mothers. Even when we are away from our children, they are not far from our minds. We are constantly worrying, planning, and remembering. My daughter is only 8 - I wonder if that is going to change when she gets older.
.
I hope you will make a card "For that Someone Special" and join us in the Sentimental Sunday's Challenge. Ann also has a freebie posted.
.
Now to the details on my card. A complete supplies list is shown below. I colored the pearls with my Prismacolor marker (Eggshell) because they were just too white. You probably can't really tell the difference in the picture but they now look slightly off white instead of bright white. The foliage (?) and butterfly punches were sprayed with Tattered Angels pearl glimmer mist and have a nice shimmer. You can see it on the butterfly in the picture but it gets lost on the foliage. The card is much prettier in real life.
.
I hope you have a wonderful Sunday. Thank you for looking at my card. I hope you will join us at Sentimental Sundays. You have 2 weeks to enter.

Beautiful Cheryl! Pat will love this card and the sentiment is so touching (and true).
I struggle with posting cards before events as well. You want them on your blog, but you don't want to ruin the surprise!
Oh what a dilemma!

Pumpkin Spice - Birthday Wishes

While scrolling through the Pumpkin Spice shop, I noticed the great prices on the Christmas/Winter themed paper pads.    The fun colors and patterns on so many of the pages could be used for just about anything.   So I pulled out the “12 Days of Christmas” paper pad from My Mind’s Eye and set to work trying to make some cards.Since I never have enough birthday cards on hand, I thought that was what I would try first.  I started by punching out butterflies from several of the many patterns in the pad.    From there, I moved them around my card until I had an arrangement that I liked, added some stitching and stickers, and, “Ta Da!”, a birthday card! Since I also need a congratulations card for a friend , I thought I would see what I could make with the same paper pad.   I really love how this card turned out.(In real life, the glitter on the “U” is more similar to the aqua color in the paper.)So what do you think?   You can make some fabulous, non-holiday cards using holiday themed pap…

Catered Crop–Think Green Recipe Swap

The latest Catered Crop recipe swap is up!  With Earth Day on April 22 and National Arbor Day on April 25, it’s the perfect time to Think Green. Just make a project that includes the color green and come join our party at the Catered Crop. For my project, I dug out a photo of of our sweet Summer was taken about a year ago.   Although I have been pretty lax about scrapbooking the last few years, I really wanted to make sure I created a page with this photo for my daughter’s scrap book.   We lost Summer, who was a member of our family for almost 15 years, in February so this page seemed especially important to me.After finding some paper that used a lot of green in it, I used lots of various odds and ends that I found in my craft room.  I mixed various stickers and die cuts from other projects to create this page.  As always, Linda has curated a fabulous Pinterest board to get our create mojo working.  (Don’t you just love her boards?)    You can go directly to Linda’s “Green”board by cl…

Pumpkin Spice–What Time Is It?

Hello! Today is my day to post on the Pumpkin Spice blog. My card fits our current challenge, “Time”. We would love to see your project with either a word or element that implies time. I have to admit I was a bit stumped by the challenge at first. I could only think of clocks and watches, but I didn’t have any stamps that would fit. I finally had my “Ah ha!” moment and thought about looking up a quote about time. I found this quote from John Lennon that I really liked and the idea for my card grew from there and these beautiful Pebbles Inc. papers.I love these new papers from Pebbles, Inc. The colors are so bright and cheery, I had to use them to chase away the spring gloom we have right now. I love each of the 18 patterns (2 pages of each) included in the 6x6 pad.I hope this helps to inspire you to think out of the box and create a project for our “Time” challenge. You can link up your project and find the challenge details HERE. Thank you for stopping by! I hope you have a fabulous …
