Friends

Hello my blogging friends!   I was able to sneak into my craft room for a while this weekend.  I got my fingers just a little inky and used a RUBBER stamp from Whimsy and Stars Studio.  Did you know that you can  get some of Mabelle’s adorable images in rubber?  If you didn’t, you can see what is available right here.

2012-06-26 WSS Friends card WM

This stamp is so sweet.  I colored these 2 girls to resemble my best friend and I when we were young.  Can you believe we have been friends (through all the ups and downs that entails while growing up) since we were just 6 years old?   I won’t tell you exactly how many years that has been, but take my word for it, it’s been a lot!

I don’t have any really old photos of us scanned, but here is one of us from 2004.   (It was taken at an Oscar part for “The Return of the King” in LA.  Fabulous fun but that is another story.)

Baddddd Blogger!

Sorry I’ve been such a bad blogger the last few weeks.   My job and family have been keeping me busy and I didn’t get the chance to spend any time at all in my craft room last week.   Not only have I not been able to craft, I really haven’t had time to visit all my blogging friends.   I’m hoping things get back to normal crazy (instead of crazy crazy) soon and I will get back on track.

I was able to get one thing accomplished so far this weekend.   My daughter loves to collect the smooshed pennies that you can get at all the tourist spots.  Know what I mean?  I really don’t know what else to call them.     Anyhow, since we are were out an about earlier today, I stopped at a craft store and bought some chain, jump rings and fasteners to make her a bracelet with all her pennies.   I swear this is only about half of what she has but she said she couldn’t remember where she put the rest of them.    Oh well, when they show up, we will just add them on.

Serene Father’s Day Card

I’m back from my meetings for work and it is good to be home.   Things went well but I always hate doing presentations in front of people.   The worse part was that I ended up being the last presentation of the day so I was the only thing standing between them and dinner/cocktails.  I’m sure they were all listening to me…

I was able to get this card finished up before I left.  Since my dad is a big duck and goose hunter, I had to use the new stamp set that I bought from Sweet N Sassy, Serene Silhouettes, to make him a Father’s day card.  Check it out! Real stamps, no digis were used on this card.   (Don’t get me wrong; I LOVE digis but it is fun to use stamps and inks sometimes.)

I also had some fun with a little bit of paint.  Unfortunately it is a bit hard to see in this photo but I did stamp a polka dot background using paint on the blue panel.  I also did a bit of multi-generational stamping with the cattails stamp although most of it was cut off when I trimmed my image.

Well, enough babbling from me.  I’m going to go cuddle with my daughter to watch So You Think You Can Dance.  (I LOVE this show!)

Have a great day!   (Don’t forget the Fresh Brewed Designs blog hop starts this Saturday and I am thrilled to be participating!)

Bunny Balloon

Hello there!  I’m going to keep this short today.  I slipped and fell over the weekend and my arm is kind of sore.  On the good note, my daughter now understands why a person should clean up water they spill on the floor.

I made this card using Bunny Balloon.  Mabelle gave this image away free on the Whimsy & Stars Studio blog last week.   If you didn’t get the chance to download it, you might want to sign up to follow the Whimsy & Stars Studio blog or Facebook group so you don’t miss out in the future.

Congratulations!

June always seems like a busy month.  Although I don’t know anyone graduating this year, I do have some friends and family that are celebrating important life events.    Of course, when you are a card marker and know someone with a big event in their lives, you just have to make them a card!

So my goal for myself over the weekend was to make 2 congratulations cards and to try to use up some of my “scraps”.    I ended up using the same design for both cards, with some little differences.

This first card is for my friend, and Jazzercise buddy, Joy.  She is retiring from teaching after the end of the school year.  (Joy taught health to middle schoolers.  I think she might be a saint!)   Besides a card, we definitely need a Wii-tini party or Girls Night Out to celebrate!

2012-06-07 Congrats WM

The second card is for my cousin who recently got engaged.  Although we are be able to attend the party, I wanted to send a card to let him know how happy we are for them.   Since this card was for an engagement, I switched out the flowers with some hearts.  (Engagement, love, hearts…you know.)

2012-06-07 Congrats B WM

Here is a look at them side by side.  Like I said, they are VERY similar but not the same.

I also have a song to share for Music Saves My Soul.   I’m not sure if Marcea is still hosting the weekly party, but you can drop by her blog on Saturday to see if she has a linky set up.      I heard this song on the radio a couple of weeks ago and have been humming it every since.

I hope you have a fabulous weekend!  It is supposed to be warm, humid, and, well, summery, here this weekend.

At the Beach

I can’t believe it is the last week of school!   The school year seemed so long when I was a kid.  Now, it feel like it passes in the blink of an eye.  We are busily making plans for fencing camp, horseback riding, staying with Grandma and visiting family in Virginia.

Once again, a Whimsy & Stars Studio image made me think of my daughter.    Although we don’t live near an ocean, we do not live too far from Lake Michigan.     I grew up about 30 blocks from the lake but now live about 20 miles away.  I am still amazed at how different the weather can be when you are at the lakefront.  On Memorial day, it was over 80-degrees at our house.  We drove down to the lake front to take a walk and it was just 60-degrees.   So, to get to the point, I won’t be surprised to see my daughter dressed like this, down at the lakefront over the summer.
