Hello Friend Cardinal

So, once again this year I am having a problem with an amorous bird.  Some of you may remember the difficulties I had 2 years ago with a robin.  This year we have a cardinal that is continually hurtling himself at our windows.     At the beginning of the month, I had at least 5 male cardinals and almost as many females that were frequent visitors to my bird feeders.    Well this cardinal, let’s just call him my nemesis, has run off all the other males and now occupies his day by trying to chase off his reflection.     I work from home so I can hear him banging against the various windows around the house ALL DAY.

Even though I am having these issues with my nemesis, I couldn’t resist using one of the new March releases from Tiffany  Doodles to make a card.  I really enjoyed coloring this gorgeous image.  (Yes, my coloring mojo made a brief appearance!)

2012-03-30 TD Cardinal WM

This card actually uses the 2nd image that I colored.  On the first, I was pretty much finished but was going to add a bit more shading.   I grabbed my Copic W3 (or so I thought) to give him a bit more shading on his wing.  The problem was that I actually grabbed a W9.  Yikes!   It was totally beyond repair.  I hate when that happens!

The clouds behind the cardinal were created using the tutorial mentioned in this post.

Here is a look at the complete set.  Don’t forget, all March releases, including this set, are on sale for 10% off through March 31.  Stop by the Tiffany Doodles blog to see other gorgeous creations using these images.

Here is a photo of my nemesis.    The first picture is of him planning his attack.  The second is how I see him most often lately.

It looks like you already have those reflective decals up. You can try smearing your windows (and yes, blocking some of your view) with soap...
Your card is great! Love the music scallops and paper choices!

Wow, gorgeous card! Love the colors and DP! Love the music sheets you scalloped and placed on top of each other! Too bad your first image was ruined because of the wrong copic! Hope your nemesis will get his act together and stops chasing away the other birds, lol. Hugs, Hanneke

Aww so sad. We had a robin that did that against our sliding glass doors a few years back. He actually hurt himself so badly he was bleeding. I think they must assume it's another rival they're seeing (instead of just their reflection). I hope he doesn't injure himself!

Your card is super cute though!! Love your coloring of Mr. Cardinal.

Crazy, we just had a bird fly into our window yesterday; flew in pretty hard too as he was knocked out cold for a while. It eventually came around and flew away. This is a fab card! Great coloring!
Thanks for playing with us at LRW!

Well, at least he hasn't killed himself. My mom's house has two windows on either side of the house that line up. I don't know how many birdies have crashed into one of them thinking they can fly straight through. :-( Your card is just gorgeous. Red's always a toughie, but you aced it girl! Hugs!

I love all of the circle elements you've used on this card and the music paper is gorgeous. I think the W9 worked out well and I couldn't have noticed it unless you pointed it out:) Birds can be a little crazy...I have a pair of swallows that always fly into my garage whenever it's open, and then they get all panicking trying to find their way back out!

just found your blog! Your cards are amazing! What a beautiful bird. The only kind of birds we ever see where we live are pigeons. Though that would be pretty annoying having to hear the bird at your windows all day!
