Love ya!

Wow! It has been a busy week so far. I almost forgot to post my project!

On Sunday night, one of my dogs tangled with a skunk. Not only did she get sprayed but she was bit 3 times. (Thank goodness all the drama was after “True Blood” finished.) We looked on-line and saw that the “old wives tales” solutions such as tomato juice are no longer recommended. We mixed up a solution of hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and dish soap, put it on her and had to hold her still for 5-10 minutes. (You can find more on this HERE. This solution is what was recommended by our vet too.) I’m happy to say that the solution seemed to work pretty well although my house was a little smelly the next day. We also made a trip to the vet to get a rabies booster and for them to check out her bites. She seems to be doing fine and since she was up-to-date on her vaccines, we really don’t need to worry too much about the bites.

My daughter’s softball team also won their division. Yeah Cougars!

Added to that, it is fiscal year end at the company I work at. Enough said about that. I don’t want to bore you all but suffice to say I feel like I am running around like a mad woman.

With all this going on, I felt like I could use a hug so when I saw Meljen’s Designs Teeny Mouse Hugs in my files, I knew I had to use it. I think this card is going in my box for OWH.

Before I forget, Melissa is releasing some new, yummy images today. Check these out! They will be available today in the Whimsy Stamps store.

The new challenge on the Meljen’s Designs blog is a sketch challenge. The sketch was created by our Meljen’s teamie, Dianna. Stop by the Meljen’s Designs blog to find out all the challenge details.

Sentimental Sundays–Get Patriotic!

We have another fun challenge for you this week at Sentimental Sundays. The new challenge is “Patriotic”. We want you to use the colors of your nation’s flag for your creations. Don’t forget to include a sentiment!

With Independence Day coming up, I wanted to try to make something that celebrated our nation’s history and fit the challenge theme. I thought that this famous quote from John Dickinson, which was a freebie on the Sentimental Sundays blog last year, would be perfect.

I recently purchased the DVD set “Liberty’s Kids” for my daughter. It is a cartoon that I can feel good about her watching because she is learning about the Revolutionary War. We used to watch it on the History Channel when she was younger but I don’t think they show it any longer. She also enjoys going on the Liberty’s Kids website. It is really cute that it has inspired her to start a family newspaper, “The Home Gazette”, and she wants to go visit some of the historical sights from the war for a future family vacation.

Before I wrap up my post, I wanted to thank you for hopping along with the Sentimental Sundays team last week. Stop by the Sentimental Sundays blog to see if you were one of the random winners.

Thank you for stopping by!

Supplies:

  • Stamps: For the Troops by Raindrop Echo Designs (past free set on the Sentimental Sundays blog)
  • Inks: Distress Inks Antique Linen
  • Papers & CS: Papertrey kraft CS, Stampin’ Up Ruby Red CS, K&co Americana paper pad
  • Tools: Sewing machine, Big Shot, Spellbinders Nestabilitie Die, Provo Craft Seeing Spots embossing folder, Score Buddy, Martha Stewart edge punch
  • Embellishments: Old Paper distress paints, Martha Stewart twill tape, Papertrey bakers twine

Time For A Cook Out!

Welcome to the first official week of summer! One of the things I look forward to every summer is cooking on the grill. My husband jokes that I have taken over his title of “Grill Master”. (Although judging by the chicken breasts I cooked earlier this week, my title might be in jeopardy. Charcoal never hurt anyone, right?)

So sticking with the summer, grilling out theme, Melissa is releasing the cutest BBQ themed digis on Whimsy Stamps today. I made a card using the new image, BBQ Fixins.

Here is a look at the entire new release for this week. You can purchase these digital images from Whimsy Stamps.

These images all work perfectly with the theme for our new challenge - Stripes and/or Plaid! You can find all the challenge details on the Meljen’s Designs blog.

Thank you for stopping by!

Supplies:

  • Stamps: BBQ Fixins by Meljen’s Designs on Whimsy Stamps
  • Inks: None
  • Papers & CS: Neenah Solar Crest CS, Bazzill Basics blue CS, October Afternoon Farm Fresh DP pad & other misc. OA scraps
  • Tools: Copic markers, Sewing Machine, Big Shot, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Papertrey ric rac die

Sentimental Sundays Celebrate Summer Blog Hop

Welcome to the Sentimental Sundays “Celebrate Summer” blog hop. Tuesday, June 21st, is the official first day of summer in the northern hemisphere and we are ready for all the summer fun to begin. For our friends down under who are moving into their winter months and may not feel like creating a summery project, they may be making “Sparkly or Shimmery” projects.

You should have arrived here from Ann E.’s blog. If not, you might want to start the hop at the beginning, the Sentimental Sundays blog, so that you don’t miss anything.

For my project, I used Mo Manning’s digital image, Janie in July. I love this image. Janie reminds me of how my daughter looked a few years ago. I think she had a pink swim suit almost identical to this.

I’m not really comfortable coloring people. If you follow my blog, you might have noticed that I don’t ever do cards with people on them. Okay, I take that back. I have done 2 other cards where I have colored people. Trust me, you don’t want to look for them. Anyhow, I made a goal to try to practice my coloring and use some images with people over the summer. This card is the first step (after studying LOTS of coloring tutorials.)

The Sentimental Sundays team is still having our usual challenge this week. We hope you will join in our “Summery or Sparkly” (plus a sentiment) challenge. Our sponsor is the talented Ann Vento of Raindrop Echo Designs. The challenge prize will be four INDIVIDUAL sentiment sets from the Raindrop Echo Designs Whimsy Stamps Digital Collection.

As you hop along with us, don't forget to leave comments along the way. There are 3 mystery DT members who will each choose a winner from the comments left on their blog hop posts. The 3 winners will each win a $10 gift certificate to Whimsy Stamps! The hop ends on Friday, June 24th at midnight EST. The winners will be announced on the Sentimental Sundays challenge blog on Sunday, June 26th.

Your next stop on the hop is Lou Mac. I know she has something wonderful for you. If you should happen to get lost along the way, you can find the complete blog hop list on the Sentimental Sundays challenge blog.

Thank you so much for hopping by.

Supplies:

  • Stamps: Janie In July by Mo’s Digital Pencil
  • Inks: None
  • Papers & CS: Neenah Solar Crest CS, misc pink cs, Pink Paislee Hometown Summer DP pad
  • Tools: Copic markers, Sewing machine, Big Shot, Papertrey banner dies

Music Saves My Soul

Hurray!  The week end is finally here!    The work week seems to be getting longer and longer.  Maybe its because we finally are getting some nice weather and I would much rather be outside than sitting at my desk.

Any how, I have a couple of songs to share with you this week.  I think the band raided my closet for the first one.  Ha ha ha!

If you would like to jump in and share a tune, you can link up on Marcea’s blog.  The more the merrier!

Stop back tomorrow for the Sentimental Sundays blog hop.  Ann has some really wonderful prizes for some lucky hoppers.

Have a great week end!

Meljen’s Designs – Gone Fishing

Father’s Day is creeping closer so I thought I would share the card I made for my Dad for Father’s Day. If you don’t remember this Fisher Moose image, Melissa made it in remembrance of her father who loved fishing. Since my dad is also an avid fisherman, I thought it would be perfect.

I thought this cute little sentiment sign, from Raindrop Echo Designs, is also perfect for my dad. He has a HUGE lawn and it seems like anytime I call him during the summer, if he is not fishing, he is riding his tractor, mowing the lawn.

Before I forget, the challenge this week is RED, WHITE, and BLUE. You can find all the details on the Meljen’s Designs blog. Since it is Thursday, Melissa is also releasing new digis. These images will be in the Whimsy Stamps store today.

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you have a great week end!

Supplies:

  • Stamps: Fisher Moose by Meljen’s Designs, Great Day to Fish by Raindrop Echo Designs (Both available on Whimsy Stamps) and Just My Type by Technique Tuesday

Sentimental Sundays – Father’s Day Challenge

Hello! We have a very timely challenge for you this week. The Sentimental Sundays team is challenging you to make a card or project for a Father or special man in your life. (Don’t forget a sentiment!)

I am still trying to push myself out of my comfort zone a bit. I decided to try to use a photo on the card I was making for my husband for Father’s day. I love this picture of my hubby and daughter taken at Disney World last year. (I really hope he is not looking at this…. I know he usually doesn’t look at my blog and I’m trying to figure out how to turn off Networked Blogs so it doesn’t pop up on his Facebook page.)

I used a Whiff of Joy sketch for inspiration and then worked from there. The sentiment is from Raindrop Echo Designs. It was not designed as a ticket sentiment but I shrank it down, printed it on kraft and cut it out with a ticket die. I love the versatility of digital sentiments.

I hope you will stop by the Sentimental Sundays blog to see the creations from the rest of the design team. Our challenge this week is being sponsored by Meljen’s Designs and Raindrop Echo Designs. While you are there you can download the free sentiments from the talented Ann Vento of Raindrop Echo Designs. I hope you will join our challenge too!

Thank you for stopping by!

Supplies:

  • Stamps: Walkin’ With Dad sentiments by Raindrop Echo Designs (available on Whimsy Stamps), Just the Ticket by Papertrey
  • Inks: Close To My Heart Autumn Terracotta & Twilight inks
  • Papers & CS: Papertrey kraft, & dark chocolate CS, The Paper Company kraft CS, My Mind’s Eye Fine and Dandy True Blue paper pad
  • Tools: Sewing Machine, Copic markers (just to color twine), Big Shot, Papertrey ticket die

Music Saves My Soul

Hurray it’s Saturday!     That means its time to share a little tune with some of my music loving, blogging friends.  If you are interested in joining the linky party and sharing a song, you can link up on Marcea’s blog.

Although the song I picked isn’t one of my favorites off the album, the video is so fun and twisty I had to share it.

At the end of June, the big local music festival, Summerfest, kicks off.  I was checking out the music line up and I want to go almost every day. If only money and vacation days from work were unlimited….   Knowing that people come from all over the country and the world to attend Summerfest, are any of you coming?  If so, what are you most looking forward to?

I hope you have a fabulous week end!

Whimsy Stamps June Digi Release–Freedom & Courage

It’s the first of the month so it is time for the June Whimsy Stamps digital stamp release. We are introducing new images from Meljen’s Designs, Crissy’s Digis, Moon Cookie Gallery and Raindrop Echo Designs. Also, we have another new designer this month, Kathryne Kittmer or StampArt Design.

As always, there is a blog hop to show off all the new images. Now that the Whimsy Digi Team has grown, we are big enough to split into two teams. The other team is participating in the hop this month. Please stop by the Whimsy Inspiration blog to get the blog hop list. You will want to hop along with them for your chance to win some Whimsy digis.

I decided to also post a project today showing off one of the new images. I decided I had to use an image from the new digi artist, Kathryne Kittmer of StampArt Design.

As soon as I saw this image, I knew I had to use it. This eagle is gorgeous and was so easy to color that I know I will be turning to it again. It is paired with a free digital sentiment from the Whimsy artist, Ann Vento. Ann offered this as a free download on her blog quite a while ago. If you like it, you can find the link in the list of supplies below. (I know the sentiment is a little hard to read here because of the angle of the card, but it says ” The secret of happiness is freedom. The secret of freedom is courage. ~Thucydides”)

Thank you for stopping by today! Don’t forget about the Whimsy Stamps blog hop. You can find out all the information at the Whimsy Inspirations blog.

**EDITED 6-6-11: I received an email today from Scrapbooks, Etc that I am in the running for a $500 prize and a $500 donation to a charity of my choice with this card. The charity that I chose is the Red Cross fund for Joplin. Please stop by Scrapbooks, Etc. and vote for me! (You can vote once daily) CLICK HERE TO VOTE
