AmberInk - Cutie Pie

I am having so much fun playing with my new Amber Ink images. This week I decided to play around with the Cutie Pie: Little Things set. Of course I had to pair it up with some of my favorite October Afternoon papers.

I have to admit I love how the pie looks. I printed it on kraft CS and colored with Copic markers. It was really easy to do and I think it looks pretty good.

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you have a great week.

Supplies:

  • Stamps: Cutie Pie: Little Things by AmberInk
  • Papers: PaperTrey kraft, dark chocolate, & white CS, Georgia Pacific CS, October Afternoon Modern Homemaker & Farm Fresh DP
  • Inks: Distress Inks Antique Linen
  • Tools: Sewing Machine, Fiskars edge punch, Big Shot, PaperTrey rick-rack die & Linen/canvas impression plate, Copic markers (E53, E57, E08)

Sentimental Sundays - Anything Goes

It's Sunday so it is time for a new Sentimental Sundays challenge. This week we have any easy one for you - "Anything Goes with a sentiment".

For my card, I wanted to play around with one of the Doodle Pantry images that I have. They are so cute but I never seem to have time to use them. So this week I printed one off, colored it up and used some gorgeous papers that were RAK'd to me by a blogging friend, Maria.

I hope you will join our "Anything Goes with a Sentiment" challenge this week. The challenge is being sponsored by Heart Song Designs. You can find all the details on the Sentimental Sundays blog.

Thank you for stopping by!

Supplies:
  • Stamps: Birdie on a Wire from Doodle Pantry, Handwritten Notes from PaperTrey
  • Papers: Georgia Pacific CS, PaperTrey dark chocolate CS, all DP is RAK from Maria
  • Inks: Close To My Heart chocolate
  • Tools: Big Shot, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Martha Stewart edge punch, Copic markers
  • Embellishments: PaperTrey silk ribbon, Inkssentials white pen, misc. button & gemstones

Queen for the Day!

I made this card for another friend's birthday. I am proud to say that this one reached it's recipient on time too. (That's 2 if your keeping track.) I didn't mess up her birthday in my calendar, but she did have a party so I knew exactly when I needed it. :) (If you don't know what I am babbling on about, check my post from yesterday.)

I really enjoyed making this. First of all, I finally took the time to make a card just for fun, not for a DT. I have been wanting to use Princess Jennifer Latte from The Stamping Boutique and decided this was the perfect reason. She reminds me of my friend, and I don't mean that in a princess-y way, but in a stylish, mocha-sipping (or latte-sipping) way. I also wanted to make another joy fold card because I had fun making the first one.

.

I liberated some felt from my DD's bin of crafting goodies and created the rose out of it. I sprayed it with various shimmer mists until it was a more suitable color (meaning not the Peptobismo pink it originally was). I finished the inside with a sentiment from Create with TLC that says "I Declare You Queen for the Day".

That's all I have for today. Thank you for stopping by!

Supplies:
  • Stamps: Princess Jennifer Latte Happy Birthday To Me by The Stamping Boutique, Queen for a Day (inside sentiment)(freebie) by TLc Creations
  • Papers & CS: PaperTrey Dark Chocolate CS, Neenah Crest solar white CS, My Mind's Eye Pretty Please Spring Papers
  • Tools: Copic Markers, Martha Stewart leaf punch, Stampin' Up edge punch, Big Shot, Spellbinders nestabilities, Creative Memories circle punch
  • Embellishments: Misc. pink felt & rhinestones, Sakura stardust gelly roll pen

I'm dreaming of Cupcakes.... and being on time

As a card maker, I should always have a card ready and mail it out in a timely fashion. You would think... Anyhow, the truth of the matter is, even though I am a Type A personality and hate to be late for anything, somehow I am almost always late getting cards into the mail. I don't know why. That's just the way it is. May be I'll add this to my New Year's resolution list next year... Lose 20 pounds, exercise more, drink more water, and mail cards on time....

So today is my friend, Joy's, birthday. Believe it or not, I actually got her birthday card to her on time. Early in fact... Some how I had her birthday on the wrong date on my calendar. Two weeks early.... On her "birthday" or so I thought, I popped on Facebook and left her a cheery little birthday message. Needless to say, confusion ensued. On the good side, I gave us all a laugh, we decided to celebrate her birthday month instead of day, and I got my card to her on time.

Here is a look at her card. This is my first effort at a collage type card. I was inspired by the card Amy Sheffer posted here. The photo really doesn't do it justice. Don't cards almost always look better IRL?

Thank you for stopping by and reading all my babble today. Happy Birthday Joy!

Supplies:
  • Stamps: Birthday Cupcake by Meljen's Designs, Ticket Sentiments by Raindrop Echo Designs (Both available on Whimsy Stamps)

Sentimental Sundays Challenge #43 - photo inspiration

This week at the Sentimental Sundays challenge we have a photo inspiration challenge. The inspiration is a photo taken by my brother at the lighthouse in my home town. Isn't it an awesome shot?

Kenosha's North Pier Lighthouse

(If you like the photo, you can leave him a comment in his Flickr gallery here.)

I was inspired by the colors and texture of this photo. I used a light blue paper with a swirl pattern and added some lace to mimic the texture of the ice and spray.

I hope you will join us for the Sentimental Sundays photo inspiration challenge. Be sure to tell us how you were inspired by the photo and don't forget to include a sentiment! This week the challenge is also being inspired by Lindsay's Stamp Stuff. Check out all the great images, papers, and SVG files in her mygrafico store. Also stop by the Sentimental Sundays blog to see all the beautiful creations from the rest of the DT and download your free sentiments from Raindrop Echo Designs.

Thank you for stopping by!

Music Saves My Soul

I had a week where I really needed some good music as a pick me up. When I was going through my playlist, I found a song that I really wanted to share, but I couldn't find a video with decent sound quality. I did find a link to myspace which plays the song and you can here it here - Eisley - "A Sight to Behold".
If you would like to play along, link up your music pick for the week on Marcea's blog.

For my project I used this cute little lady bug image from one of the hops sponsors, Meljen's Designs. She is paper pieced using some of the new Close To My Heart papers I just got this past week. The heart trim was from a RAK a recieved from a blogging friend.

Happy Valentine's Day and thank you for hopping by. Your next stop on the hop is my wonderful team mate from the Meljen's DT, Jessica. If you get lost along the way, here is the blog hop order. Remember, the more comments you leave, the more you increase you chances of winning.

Red, pink and white is the perfect color combination to use on any Valentine projects you are creating. Music Saves My Soul

If you want to play along, please link up on Marcea's blog.

I don't know what it is about this song, but I love it. I love the original by Love and the covers by the Damned and Calexico. Even the cover by Matthew Sweet & Susanna Hoffs is okay. ( I heard a version by Sarah Brightman that I didn't care for.)

So here Calexico's version. I hope you enjoy.

Whimsy Stamps - Studious Mouse

My daughter is just like me in the way that she generally has several books that she is reading at the same time. Although she is still using the bookmark I made for her before, I thought I would make her another one so that she can stop using scraps of paper to save her spot.

I found a tutorial for a corner bookmark tutorial HERE and decided that I wanted to give it a try. I gave it to her yesterday and she really loved it. In fact, she asked if she could try to make one over the week end.

Don't forget that today is the big Release Party at Whimsy Stamps for the February new releases of rubber stamps and dies. Check out the details on the Whimsy Stamps blog to see how you could be the winner of one of the 6 prizes being given out during the hop.
