Smiley Snowman

I have a weakness for snowmen and when I saw this image from Sweet 'n Sassy I bought him using the discount from the blog hop earlier this week. If you participated in the hop, you probably saw that members of the DT were hosting 3 special challenges. I made this card specifically for the sketch challenge and the non-traditional Christmas colors challenge. (I really wanted to squeeze the third challenge in too but I just couldn't swing it.)

I had a sketch, I knew what image I wanted to use and I thought it would take me no time at all the get this card done. It's not like there was a lot of coloring to do. I could not have been more wrong. Did you ever have one of those days were every piece of paper you cut was wrong? I certainly did. First it was too small, then it was cut crooked. I used up an entire 12x12 piece of paper making this card because of all my mistakes. Anyhow, I finally finished this card. I don't really like the DP with the embossing, but it's stuck down now. I decided to still share it because not every project can turn out how we envision it.

If you missed the Sweet N Sassy blog hop, you still can see the wonderful creations from the DT starting on the Sweet N Sassy blog. I used the sketch from Janette's blog and the non-traditional Christmas colors challenge from Chrissy's blog.

Thank you for looking!

I have a hard time finding snowmen that I like, and this one is adorable. It makes me smile just looking at him. You did such a great job with this image. I really love this card! BTW, thanks very much for the nice things you said about my card during the High Hopes blog hop. It was so appreciated! Best, Curt

I know the frustration of cutting a 12X12 piece of paper not once but 2 or 3 times before getting it right. But the end result is fabulous. I know you are not happy with the embossing, but I think it looks fabulous. What a fun card! I love snowmen images too!

Another snowman addict here - I can't resist adding to my collection they are just so cute. Been there with the 12" by 12" paper too. You get down to the last chance and it's nerve wracking. I have some embossed snowflake vellum (so gorgeous I stroked it for years) and when I cut it it just all went wrong. I've saved the pieces (somewhere!) - heartbreaking.
I think your paper and embossing do work together. A lovely card but then it has a snowman on so I'm biased to start with.

Hello Cheryl

Me too, I'm a sucker for a snowman.
I've been there with my design paper too. Your card is fantastic and your snowman so cute. The design paper is gorgeous, especially mattered with black. I'm an embossing aholic also. I love the tearing effect for snow.

Thank you so much for joining in our latest challange.
