Sentimental Sundays: Christmas Cards for OWH

This week on the Sentimental Sundays blog, we would like you to make and send Christmas cards to Operation Write Home. If you are not familiar with Operation Write Home, they are an organization that sends blank handmade greeting cards for all occasions to deployed service members to write home on. They’ve mailed approximately 500,000 cards so far—and are still going strong! Our challenge to you is to make cards to send to them for our nation’s heroes.

I was able to get 10 cards in 4 different styles completed to send to OWH. I tried to keep them relatively flat so that they would be easy to mail.

OWH has a few important guidelines which you can read here; it’s important especially to remember that glitter is NOT allowed (it’s a safety hazard to our heroes), handmade cards only, and OWH needs A2 sized cards. “Operation Write Home” needs to be on the backs of your cards—it can be stamped, handwritten, or printed on labels. Please include a packing slip inside your box or envelope, and mail them to any of their shippers listed on the Mailroom page. In your package, you can also include notes written to a deployed service member. We are asking that you make and mail your Christmas card to OWH this week, but the dead line for all Christmas cards is a postmark date of October 30th.

I hope you will join the Sentimental Sundays challenge to make and send Christmas cards to OWH to support our troops. Stop by the blog to download your free sentiment set from Ann Vento of Raindrop Echo Designs.

Thank you for stopping by!

These are all terrific holiday cards. I especially like the second one with the tree cropped and that fun patterned paper.

I've been concentrating on kids/teens birthday cards lately for OWH but I'm going to ship those off soon and start in on the holiday cards.

Great cards for OWH!! I was 'hoping' to host a cardmaking party in September but the month has already gotten away from me. So, I will continue to make them on my own until I can get my stuff together to have a party!
The soldiers will LOVE these. Hopefully your post will encourage others to participate with OWH!!
